Why did C'Ville get a show?

Obviously geography played into this to some degree, but why did Charlottesville get a show? There are many more deserving (I'll explain deserving in a second) cities that were shutout on this tour.

To me a "deserving" city is one that sells the arena out in support of the band, and doesn't cheapen the band by having tickets on the secondary marketplace for less than $15...what a joke! If you're a PJ fan in the Virginia area, this isn't a knock on you, but why not drive thew few extra hours and play in a venue and city that will appreciate you?

Nashville, Atlanta, Columbus, Minneapolis, Austin, New Orleans? What's another 6 hours on the bus to make it to a city that will support the band?

So, going to a city where the scalpers are taking a bath is a bad thing? Going to a city where the scalpers are cleaning up would be a good thing?

It has nothing to do with the scalpers. The fact of the matter is I bet the place is about 85% full tonight.

Look at all of the 10c tix available on the boards right now that aren't even getting a response. Any other city a "I have a great 10c single available" would get bombarded.

Maybe. Charlottesville is not an A+ destination and most of the east coast fans just finished travelling between Worcester and Brooklyn and Philly and Hartford.

Be interesting to see how full it is tonight.

85% isn't really that bad. Below 70% would be bad.

Perhaps they'd like to try and make some new fans instead of the same people who see them 10x a tour
  • JPJ is a very nice arena for concerts. I saw RHCP there and it was excellent sound from the top seats. And it's a great town so the DC folks can go down for a visit to a good place.

Damn, nice seats in 114 and 102 for under $40 on the Hub. Those would seem to be 10C sections, but maybe they got so few requests for this show that they were public onsale seats.

This gives me hope that they'll play Eugene someday. Come to Matthew Knight Arena, fellas!

    Tickets as low as $4.00?

    Wish this happened in Chicago!

Have fun tonight if you're one of the lucky ones going.

They are already playing New Orleans and played Atlanta last year.

Why should fans in smaller markets get punished? And by the looks of the setlist, this was the show to be at.

Congrats Charlottesville, now bring your asses down to Florida.

  • Magical arena, very famous location.

Do the math people, it's not that hard. 3 sided smallish buildings make for magical intimate settings. Grand Rapids, Columbia, Charlottesville, and even Baltimore could've been one.

Maybe the band recognizes this too now.

The equation is out there, just look for it next time and you'll find the magic like we did tonight, and MAN was it purley magical.

I saw this thread while I was waiting in line to enter the show. Seriously, we probably have you in part to thank for tonight's RIDICULOUSLY OUTRAGEOUSLY AWESOME show, because your snarky suggestion that C'ville didn't deserve a show probably put the karmic wheel n motion to make this the best show so far!

So... Thanks for asking!!! I probably also got my 1st tambourine because of you too! ;)

+1 Eddie gave my daughter not 1, but 2 picks. We were on the rail directly in front of Stone. Were it not for those ridiculously awesome boys Ed brought on stage, my daughter might have gotten the call. She was rockin' out like a champ and got a point and a wave from Mike in addition to the picks.

Whiney DB that started this thread ... thank you for inspiring the band to play a phenomenal show and give me and my daughter the experience of a lifetime.

PS, the arena was plenty full and plenty loud.
