Is the back GA still a good viewing spot, for the short?

I am not interested in spending 5 hours lined to try and get on the rail or very close, would like to conserve some energy, and actually have to work that day anyway.
Was just wondering, my wife is 5'2",...has there been plenty space at the back of GA for a shorter person to try and get a good view?

thanks

  • I'm 5'2" also. Based on my experience, your wife likely won't see a thing from the back of GA. If you have a way to get up closer without standing in line, go for it! Otherwise, you'll want to be closer and super nice to the people around you. ;) Sometimes they'll move a little for us short girls. Good luck!

There was a good amount of room at the back of the floor at Baltimore, so if you are five feet behind the next closest person it should give a decent viewing angle from the GA floor. There were some big guys going nutty dancing silly with a security guard next to them towards the back of the Baltimore GA on Stone's side who were making me laugh. If you don't mind being a bit away from the stage, there should be room to get a good view in the back of the GA.

I think back GA wouldn't be too bad - these PJ pits aren't that big. I've been (on purpose) at the back of a pit about this size for NIN - stayed right at the back barrier, and this far back for Springsteen. It is still closer than the first seat section behind the pit for PJ.

I'm 5'0 and I wouldn't recommend it unless everyone in front of you is also short - unlikely. On a flat surface I typically can't see if there's more than 3 people in front of me - too hard to find empty spaces between people to see through. It might work if you step a good distance back from the rest of the GA

For Hartford I got about 5 people back from the rail on stone's side at 730ish. By 8 a handful of tall people literally pushed their way in front of me so that I was so uncomfortable I left my spot and circled around back. Just slightly to the right of ed 's Mic at the edge of the crowd I had a better view than I did 5 people of the rail. There is something to be said about being able to see the whole band, if from a few feet further away. Bonus about the back is you have more freedom to move around for better viewing angles. I'm 5'2.

 My soulmate is 6'5"! That's great! He usually stands right behind me too. I love it when people complain about his height and then I peak out.

You should be able to see most anywhere, but it's a whole different world for us down here!

    Get her up close ;)

Yes, I think so. I am 5'3" and had GA for Worcester 2 and was on the rail Stone-side about 8 people back and it was great but I was on tip-toe and craned my neck most of the show. For Hartford my reserved tix put me 5 rows behind GA and I ended up being able to see pretty well and much better than expected. There did seem to be room in the back of the pit and I told my friend that if I had had GA again I would have stood there -- as long as there is a little space (1-3 people deep or so) your wife should be all set. Have fun!

I did that in Buffalo near the end of the show . . . a shorter girl was inching her way up and finally I just let her squeeze in for the last encore. Didn't take away from my experience at all . . we also let a girl squeeze her way to the rail for the 1st encore

True, someone did this for me at Brooklyn 1. Some people left and I was standing next to a guy who ushered me into the space in front of him. It was very, very kind, and it was much easier for me to see from that spot. Thanks, guy!

My toe still hurts from Baltimore :fp:
