    Stansted.

Wembley is North of London- Stansted is NE. Heathrow is SW of London. Travel options from Stansted vary depending on where you need to be really.

    you live in London?

Heathrow has the Heathrow Express and it takes 15 mins to get into Paddington station

Stansted is fucking miles away from London... in fact the train takes about 45mins!!

definitely Heathrow nutmeg... i have no idea why SF2 suggested Stansted

EDIT: stanstedis 42 miles away from Wembley!!! Heathrow is only 11 miles from Wembley. I presume you'll be going into the centre as well to drop bags at your accommodation, etc... in which case again Heathrow is by far the easiest... if Stansted was closer then thats where the hollywood superstars would fly to, but they dont as Heathrow is closer ;)
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

I was just using travel time via tube compared to that using the coach from Stansted, which are the two cheapest options. It really depends on where a person is staying and how much time they want to invest on getting from point A to B. If one was staying in North London it'd be quite easy to get there from Stansted. If you don't care how much you spend then fly into Heathrow. I made the assumption that the person asking was not a Hollywood Superstar and would like to keep expenses low (or as low as possible for London).

i must just be a rich hollywood superstar then ;)

btw, the ryanair cost from glasgow-stansted is approx £8 cheaper than flybmi's glasgow-heathrow... i was using this as my comparison, and the Heathrow express is cheaper than the stansted line anyway.... so we're not talking differences of £100's of pounds...

thats my assumption anyway, could be that nutmegs dilemma is different to mine.

i think HHelen and Jennytree et al are flying into Heathrow as well Nutmeg, so you could ask them what flight etc they are on...

Not that I'm the expert, but I live right next to Heathrow, and it takes about 15 minutes for me to get to Wembley. So I guess they're pretty close to one another.

Yeah, if you fly to Heathrow and can afford to hire a car or pay for a taxi then it should be quite quick to get round to Wembley. BUt if you have to get the tube into London and then another one out to Wembley it's going to be quite a lot longer than that... ;)

But Stansted is a loooooong way out so I'd have thought heathrow will still be quicker.

All comes down to time vs money i guess...
Oh yeah? Well, I've had about enough of morons and halfwits, dolts, dunces, dullards and dumbbells - and you chowderhead yokel, you blithering hayseed, you - you've had enough of me?

What time are you guys arriving that you're panicking about taxis to Wembley? Take the picadilly line to Green Park then change onto the Jubilee line to Wembley. Maybe an hour or so... Or the picadilly to Picadilly Circus then the Bakerloo line to Wembley Central

EDIT: Called a local taxi company (I live not too far from heathrow). They would charge about £40 for the ride from Heathrow to Wembley Arena.

I'm flying into Stansted the morning BEFORE the concert. I don't know why I chose stansted, I think for me at the time it worked out MUCH cheaper. Flying is a pain in the arse anyway so for me the time doesn't really matter all that much, unless you're talking about hours extra or something.
    The Astoria??? Orgazmic!
    Verona??? it's all surmountable

    Wembley? We all believe!

you've got plenty of time to spare but if nutmeg is coming in at 14:30 on the day of the gig for instance he might want to get into heathrow rather than stansted.

I'd always go with the cheaper option anyway ;)

i'm spending 6 hours on the train on the Sunday beforehand :o :(

Anyone considering Stansted because it's 'cheaper':
return train is £25.50 (and unlike Gatwick no cheaper option than the express) and that's only to Liverpool street so you have to add the tube fare after that.
return Coach is £14 or £16 depending which company (if you're not on the coach route, again, need to add the tube fare)

    on the other hand Heathrow:
Heathrow express is for some unfathomable reason actually more expensive despite being a third of the distance (welcome to British rail system!): £28
but on the tube: £8 return on a cash fare, between £4 and £7 with Oyster card depending on the time and day (Oyster cards are highly recommended if you stay a few days or plan on coming back at some point. http://www.tfl.gov.uk for info)

you do your own maths...but I know there better be a really big difference for me to choose Stansted (and unfortunately there is one to come back from Austria so I do end up there :()
