Charlottesville Parking

Parking lots don't open until 5:30 because its UVA staff parking. Any locals have ideas on where to park for those that wish to get there before 5:30?

    I need to know this too as we are planning on getting there somewhat early and setting up a small tailgate, preferably in a close by parking lot.

    visitor parking in Charlottesville can be a pain on weekdays. There are some metered spaces (2 hour limit) around grounds, but most of those spots are a hike from JPJ. There is hourly/visitor parking at the Central Grounds Parking garage, which is pretty close to JPJ, and you can park there and leave your car for the day ($2/hour, $1/hour between 5pm & 10pm, $1 flat rate after 10pm, and you have to be out by 1am supposedly). It has 400 parking spaces.

    Is it easy to catch a cab to and from the arena?

    Where are you trying to get to/from? From what I remember, there are only a few cab companies in Charlottesville & you have to call for one, but I don't know what it's like at big concerts there. There are also buses you can take on and off grounds (they don't call it "campus")

    I may buy the parking passes that are offered by jpj, but if I just want to stop by around 2 to pick up my tickets and merch is there somewhere I can park for that amount of time before 5? I know there is a shopping center about .3 miles away from jpj. I thought about parking there and go get my tickets/merch until about 5 then go park with my pass at jpj

    To be clear I'm only leaving my car at the shopping center for a couple hours. Not all evening.

    I bought a parking pass and it sux it's really no good to me until 5:00. :thumbdown:

    You can park at JPJ just put your parking pass in your windshield.

    Yeah, that part sucked, I'll be cutting it close with show time though so I figured I'd just get it online. One less thing to worry about once I get there.

    If you park at JPJ Arena, do not park in the parking garage. It takes forever to get out after the concert. The best places to park are the lots across the street from the arena. As for places to park pre-show, it can be tough since C'ville is a college town and parking is a premium.
