I would love to how many times WildChildRose has seen pearl jam. She has such a good fanclub number, she is always in the front row. I am a late bloomer, began liking them in 1997 and I believe my fan club number became effective in January 1998. My seats are not good!
Rose could tell you the best version of release from her memory!

I was very happy that they opened the Arnhem show on 2006-08-29, where I was with release, an emotional moment for me, and so far the only 2006 europe gig where they played release!

I love the Pittsburgh version, but that may be biased. I just love when the crowd sings 'Where it TAKES MEEEEEEEEEEEE'.

By the way, the more I think of it, the more this song was the greatest moment of my life. First time seeing my favorite band, and the lights go out, the walk out and pick up their guitars...blue light are shining behind them, so they only appear as black figures...and you hear the opening chords to Release, and the crowd goes nuts...and you hear Ed come in humming...I had tears running down my face. Beautiful, perfect, amazing, tremendous, moving, life changing.

  • The best live version of Release is from KC 03....in the middle of an all out downpour, rain drops the size of golfballs, thunderstorm, lighting and all, they come out and bust Release...right as Ed sings "oh dear dad" a huge lighting bolt hits and Ed goes "Hi dad" than right back to the lyrics.....incredible moment

Well hmmmmm.... I don't really know. I've seen them do it quite a few times... Maybe 11-6-00 Seattle Key Arena. I'm not very good at saying which song was played better at what show, especially since I have a horrible memory! (oh and I'm not always front row, I wish!!)

  • Tokyo 03...great, clear sound (like all the japan boots...but sometimes I miss the audience) and Eddies voice is at it's best...I remember my girlfriend crying to it when she visited me once being sad and upset about something, so for her to relax I put in the boot and she let it loose when they let it loose..."Let it loose" is also a great Stones Song (Exile on Main St., 1972), I love this song...

You took the words right out of my mouth. Hands down my favorite version of "Release," kicking off one of the most searing, intense shows of the year. Short but unrepentantly sweet.
