Selling merch outside

Can someone please explain to me why merch is sold outside the venue before the shows? When people who don't have tickets to the show are able to buy 2 posters just to re-sell them on eBay for more than twice the price it fucking sucks for the rest of us who paid to get into the show. Just saying. This happened at Wrigley, and I got into the venue tonight (Baltimore) at 6:30 and posters were already sold out.

You're under the impression the band is concerned about who buys the merchandise. Their goal is to sell merchandise and make money so why would they limit it to people inside the venue.

If that is the case then start selling the posters outside AFTER the show. This way the people inside get first crack. If they sell out inside, then the band has still achieved its goal.

Huh? They don't care. They make the same either way so they might as well get rid of it as fast as possible.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

The Ten Club is a business who's goal is to make money. Of course it makes sense to sell merch as long as possible on the day of the show. I am thankful they have outside merch booths!
  • I have no problem with the t-shirt and other merch sales outside, but why sell the limited edition posters that will sell out inside the venue every show? The increased sales argument doesn't apply in this case.

I remember in prior tours people requesting that they sell merch outside. Especially posters because they wanted to take them back to their car right away and not have to worry about getting them damaged during the show.

  • Its a huge convenience for people who happen to be near the venue. You can buy the merch early and then dump it in your car or house so you don't have to carry it all show.

There is usually only one outside booth and it gets a set # of each product. Even if flippers get everything there, there are still several more booths inside for ticket holders only. If you go inside as soon as doors open, chances are you will get what you want.

How about selling official merch on the website. They could make even more money. Areas where PJ isn't playing this time around have no chance in getting a t-shirt,poster,etc. without spending 150.00 for a t-shit on ebay.
