Eddie's Crazy Mary Wine
So I was one of the "lucky ones" who had a chance to drink some wine courtesy of Eddie during "Crazy Mary" at the first Philly show (10/21/13). Thanks to the 10c I won tickets to the Pit and made sure I was there early to get on the rail for the show. We ended up being front row on the rail and centered with Eddie's mic stand.
During "Crazy Mary", as he usually does, Eddie made his way down to the rail to "pass it (some wine) down". As he headed over to a kid whose birthday it was, I held out my empty beer cup and he paused long enough to give me a healthy pour out of his bottle. I about died!! I was blessed with some of Ed's wine!! It did get even better though. As he walked back on stage he passed me again, I held out my hand, and he shook it! WOW!!! I was EXTREMELY blessed to get some personal, albeit brief, time with the lead singer of my all time favorite group!!
I'm sure some of you have had better experiences with him. Some of you have seen 10 or 15 times as many shows as I have (Monday and Tuesday's Philly shows get my count up to 23 - it was my second time sitting in the front row). I'm a grown man, with a wife, two kids, and a mortgage and I was as excited as a 8 year old school girl!! What an experience!!
I do have one question for those in the know. Any idea what kind of wine Ed drinks? It was red, I savored it, and it was delicious!! I'd be VERY interested in buying some and drinking more if I knew what kind it was.
Any help?
Thank you in advance!!

What?! I'm sure he realizes Ed isn't an alien. But Ed is obviously someone who means a lot to him and he had a rare experience and interaction. I'd feel the same way, doesn't make it deferential. Geeze.
Anyway like Dimitri said I've also heard that Ed enjoys Siduri Vander Kamp Pinot Noir and I've had it before, it's a good wine and not too pricey, about $50 for a bottle depending where you live, I've found it cheaper.
I realize Ed is human, just like the rest of us. To me though, he/Pearl Jam have been there through the thick and the thin. High School/College/Good Times/Bad Times/Single Life/Married Life/And my travels across the US and the world. There are few constants in our life, especially those that you can count over two decades. Pearl Jam and their lead singer is one of those. I DO defer to him. Not as one better than me. But as one who I respect if only because the music has been there for over half my life.
Thank you for the wine info!! I'll be buying some soon. Oddly enough, I LOVE Pinot Noir and thought it tasted like it. Good to know we share the same taste in wine!! haha
Thank you again guys/girls!!
