So - hearing this song in Philly made me look up a few things on it - lyrics, etc.

Reading through the various interpretations of this song/wiki page, etc. I was surprised about a couple of things:

1). I was at the show where this was first played in Denver - cool. No wonder i love it so much. ;-)
2). I can find no reference to how the song was introduced at that show in Denver which was:

Vedder had received a letter from a prison inmate - someone who was a murderer (or rapist?) of a young girl. The inmate explained how much Vedder's music got him through the tough times of being in prison, and it pissed Vedder off so bad he wrote this tune.....

I don't think i am imagining this as it is a very vivid memory..but ?????

i'm not sure if i read it or listened to the bootleg of the show but i definitely know this story..

I second that, for a completely different reason! I had no clue! Makes more sense now than ever.
