    OMG!

    AGREED!! :D

Pistoia is one of the most amazing shows I have ever heard!

I've been raving about it so much
Not For You, State of Love and Trust, 1/2 Full, and Spin The Black Circle are all the best versions I have ever heard!

The setlist was just unreal...I Got Shit, Breath, Last Exit, the songs listed above...jesus...EVERY SONG SOUNDED FLAWLESS!! :D

Black was fuckin beautiful, like I said in another thread, it just keeps getting better

The Milan show was fuckin specacular too but only for the crowd (IMO)...the crowd was just rediculous but the band was so much better in Pistoia, plus Pistoia only had about 9,000 people there, imagine if there was the regular 20-25,000?

how was leeds the worst? im feelin a bit dumb here but have you looked at the setlist? that is a proper oldschool setlist for what i reckon would be hardcore fans(to coin a phrase),the reading gig they did two days later was nearly a repeat of the L@TG dvd.
if you listen to the leeds boot you will understand my young apprentice.............
When I was born, the doctor came out to the waiting room and said to my father, I'm very sorry. We did everything we could. But he pulled through......

think they were understandably a bit scared (well apprehensive anyway)...but heard the boot and it's a good show...and the people I know who were there certainly enjoyed it (though with a preference for Reading).

Out of the four we did - Bern, Bologna, Verona and Pistoia - I'd have to say Pistoia was my favorite. The band, crowd, venue were incredible. Verona would be my second mainly due to the sound there. Just awesome. The other two were in arenas and Bologna was HOT so I didn't enjoy those as much. All great though - no such thing as a bad PJ show. :)

Worst - How mediocre the Marseille bootleg is after getting pumped up about such a good setlist.

Best - I still haven't heard them all, but Arnhem was such a pleasant surprise. The No Woman, No Cry tag/into of Better Man was a great change of pace ... especially for a tour that RARELY had any changes of pace.

No That Great - Of course the band still sounds great and the shows are solid. But these setlists were incredibly rote and more repetitive than usual. Someone has to explain to me why the mediocre Evolution gets played at every single show, while neither Immortality, Deep, or Nothing As It Seems even show up once. And why You Are and Bushleaguer are in heavy rotation while Present Tense and Red Mosquito are basically rarities.

Hey, I'm going to love this band and love the shows no matter what. But one of the things that makes Pearl Jam special is mixing up what they play, and of every leg since at least 1998, this one seemed the most cosistently repetitive, with the only real differences being the language Ed spoke from venue to venue. I'm not gonna say you Euros got rooked, but I think anyone saying this was a better leg than either US leg is off their rocker.

You do have a point here my man. I went to 6 shows this year and I was really hoping to at least see them open with Long Road, Release, or something that they haven't opened with before. I must have heard Intersteller Overdrive/Corduroy about 5 times.
Still, despite this, I still loved every show. I can't say that I experienced a poor show at any time.
I'd say that Pistoia was probably my favourite, although Dublin and Reading both come a joint second. I think Pistoia tops the bill simply due to the fact that I shouldn't have been there. I blagged it with work by spinning them a line about not being able to go in on the Wednesday because my boiler had blown - bullshit - and flew out to Pisa on the Wednesday morning. I was back at work the next day, albeit the afternoon. The location was great aswell. A lovely little town, and town square. Lot's of red wine and a great atmosphere. I hope they return to italy again next year.

The Marseille bootleg doesn't do the show justice. Really.

Other than that, you have a very very good point. Next time, I'm off to Canada again. ;)

The day Pearl Jam do a show/tour that noone complains about is the day that McCready pulls off his face to reveal he is none other than Aaaron Carter.

Best: Bern- the venue had a nice, small feel to it and the setlist was pretty badass. Torino was a close 2nd for me.

Worst: Verona- not a bad show, but a pretty big letdown. The crowd was awful, the rain a bummer and the setlist fairly ordinary. Plus, it didn't feel or look as cool being in the Roman arena as I thought it would. Though it probably looked really cool from above. The city itself was amazing and I had a blast the night before the show.

Best show - For me it's gotta be Marseille. I haven't heard the boots so i really don't know how they sound and i'm basing this on the 3 shows that i did see (i know, small sample size) but that's just what i think. Brilliant setlist to begin with, and a really appreciative set of fans. All the lads in the band really seemed to be enjoying themselves onstage as well.

Next best - Dublin. What can I say, awesome opening to an awesome tour. Played the crowd favourites, great energy from the crowd and being my first show, absolutely brilliant.

Third best (and by default, worst) - Paris. The crowd was mental and kinda rough, which i didn't mind too much. But the band just didn't seem as energetic or into it as they did at the other shows. Or maybe I was a little jaded after seeing them for the 3rd time in a couple of weeks. Either way, just think it was the worst of the 3.
If Pearl Jam was a beer, they'd probably be the best beer in the world!!

I was vacationing in Europe but caught the Marseille and Paris show. Marseille was the superior show of the two. Cool setlist, after seeing a lot of shows it was awesome hearing a few songs I never heard live before.

The Paris crowd was pretty rough at the beginning and the show was average for PJ. My fanclub number is mediocre, so I don't get too close in the States. Hence, I got in line around 4:30 (non-ten club) and was about five people deep from where Mike would be. As soon as Instellar Overdrive/Corduroy started I was soon pulled towards Ed, the back towards Mike and then back towards Ed and out. Before I knew it I couldn't breathe and was about 20-25 people back from the stage. I could never get up close again. Later, I decided to try to get a water but you had to walk all the way back out of the floor. Then I was about 50 people deep, dehydrated, tired and pissed off. I kept telling myself I am seeing Pearl Jam in France! But it was kinda hard to get back in the show.

If I smart I would have gotten to the Marseille show earlier since it was a smaller crowd, but fuck I was only about 12-15 people deep there from the stage. So it was cool.

Anyway...even though I got my nuts handed to me (and I'm not a sissy)on the floor, the energy from the fans was something I will remember.

WHAT?? The Marseille Boot sounded a little light on crowd noise cos there were only about 5,000 people there! The show was INCREDIBLE!! Really intimate and groovy...

    My Order:

    Marseille
Barcelona (this show was intense people!)
Reading (amazing but I was soooo drunk!!)

OK - so I didnt see them that many times and I havent heard the other Boots yet (although I bought Lisbon 2 for Footsteps :) but I think the Euro leg was immense. They havent been here for 6 years so no doubt they felt that they should play lots of crowd pleasers. Remember that the events were not full of fanatics week in week out. Only a relative handful of people travelled the continent to see them 5+ times. The majority of people in the arenas were people who kinda like PJ and want to go see a legendary status rock band in their home town. Therefore, the band will have felt like they had to play their most accessible/well known songs. And more power to them for doing that. I bet next time they are over here we get more variation.

And plus - I got Marseille... and that was just the most amazing 'fans' show I could have asked for.

    :-)

I agree with all of this. They had Red Mosquito on the setlist a few times but unfortunately skipped it at the concerts I was.

Barca killed both lisbon shows! It was a really intense and rocking concert. I had so much fun. Lisbon was more relaxed.

I think some people are a little picky to say the least. I mean if you choose to see the same band six times on the same tour, well you shouldn't come over all dissapointed if you hear the same songs a few times. You see any other band and you'll get pretty much the same set every night of a tour, I guess Pearl Jam spoil us. Personally I travelled over from Wales for the Berlin show, it was spectacular. The venue was unlike any I've been to, an outdoor amphitheatre in the middle of a wood that held around 15000. Get the boot and you'll hear some relative rarities- Present Tense, Footsteps, Last Kiss, Green Disease, plus Ed speaking German. He swigged from a bottle of red wine all show, so he was 'hamming it up' by the end-running from one side to the other of the stage a little like you'd see Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden do. Any way, theres a vote for Berlin-get it and you'll enjoy!!!! Fuck I hope it's not another six years before they....Come Back.

    Dublin & Berlin were amazing!

Dublins opener (Inside Job) was extended and moody, crowd sang their hearts out in the sweaty venue, got lots of rarites/crowd favourites(Indifference, Leash, Boys Back In Town, Education, Fuckin Up), Ed & the guys were spot on and were really enjoying themselves!

the crowd atmosphere in Berlin was incredible, really good tempered - singing, dancing, mexican waves for 10 mins before the opener etc, the "oooh" soccer chant thing, the gorgeous venue and great encores and more crowd favourites (Present Tense, Footsteps, Lukin, Baba, Porch, Come Back, Miracles)

as much as they can mix up the sets they cant avoid playing songs they want to play! there were some songs that didnt appear in europe that were played in the US 2006 tour - (eg: Rats, Hard To Imagine, Of The Girl, Oceans, NAIS, Sometimes, Habit) and many that didnt appear often in europe : (In My Tree, Crownof thorns, Nothingman, All Or None, Low Light, I Am Mine, Brain Of J, Release, Long Road, I Got ID, You Are, etc etc)

im not complaining though!! 2 shows and roughly 50 different songs - thank u pearl jam!!!

    Marseille was really fantastic.

And the boot is great as well, even if a gig is always greater than a boot.
