Wow... my Pearl Jam Philadelphia Poster is sold out! Big thanks to all that purchased one, thanks for the support! It was a great piece to work on, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I'd like to share with you guys my process for creating the piece...
When I got asked to do a Pearl Jam poster, I was honored. This band has made history, and as of right now they are the number 1 selling album in America! Pure craziness.
I already knew what I wanted to do for the show... I wanted to tell a story. A story more along the lines of an adventure. I wanted to capture the excitement of the kids' favorite band coming to town.
My first Sketch was almost what I was thinking... but not quite. The angle seemed a bit off, and I kind of didn't like that they seemed to be in a boat...
I went on to do a second layout, switching up the bottom area with the kids... I thought a wagon would be a more fitting means of transportation (considering they were playing at the Wells Fargo Center in Philly)...
This was the most fun for me. You can't see it on this image, but I wanted to ink close to the actual size of the print (which ended up at 12" x 36"), so I butted 2 11x17 Bristol board sheets together, to stretch it out, ultimately being 11x34. The inking was done primarily with a Pentel Pocket Brush Pen, and to finish of the inks digitally I went with an amazing set of Manga Studio brushes that I purchased from mr Ray Frenden (seriously, the BEST brush set ever made in the history of digital art tools). GET them right HERE at his site. He's got some other great products there too, as well as some great insite and reviews on other tools for digital artists.
From there, I started to color the piece. I liked it, but it was a bit dark...
... And there you have it! The final piece for the Pearl Jam October 22nd, 2013 show in Philly!
Again, I want to thank all the people that purchased a print from my site, and I am super stoked on the positive feedback I've received from the fans. It was truly a great honor to be a part of all this.
And of course, I can't leave this post without thanking PEARL JAM, MRTSURT, INHOUSE STICKERS and Mr Gary over at Inside the Rock Poster Frame for promoting the piece. If you guys want to find more info on other posters, upcoming events, etc., then Head on over to Inside the Rock Poster Frame for all the info. Gary sleeps on NOTHING, he stays up on EVERYTHING. I proceeded to tighten up this layout. I did some loose pencils, then started inking shortly after...

Then the good folks over at InHouse Stickers suggested brightening up the colors, to help it pop a bit more...

And We decided on this one for the final. The story I had written was put on the back of the print
