I don't think Unthought Known should be played this much

thankfully there is an emoticon for this ...
great live band; plays 30+ songs every night; mixes each show up; on stage for 2.5+ hrs; reasonably priced tickets
and people just have to find something to complain about ... c'mon folks - this is at least a double :fp: with a head shake ...
AND its a brilliant song. :fp:Happy up here in my tree0 -
Brilliant song...get with the program.0

It absolutely comes to life live. I'm always happy to hear it, glad it's in regular rotation. Also happens to be my favorite off of BS."Sometimes you find yourself having to put all your faith in no faith."

It's very enjoyable live, and I won't complain about hearing it. But, yeah, I wouldn't mind it being replaced with In Hiding or Force of Nature. Having heard Unthought at all 5 of my PJ shows is kind of uncanny.Spectrum 10/27/09; New Orleans JazzFest 5/1/10; Made in America 9/2/12; Phila, PA 10/21/13; Phila, PA 10/22/13; Baltimore Arena 10/27/13; Phila, PA 4/28/16; Phila, PA 4/29/16; Fenway Park 8/7/16; Fenway Park 9/2/18; Asbury Park 9/18/21; Camden 9/14/22; Las Vegas 5/16/24; Las Vegas 5/18/24; Phila, PA 9/7/24; Phila, PA 9/9/24; Baltimore Arena 9/12/24; Pittsburgh 5/16/25; Pittsburgh 5/18/25

Yeah, I'm not much of a fan because of some of the lyrics, but I think a lot of PJ fans really love this song a lot. So it's for them.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0 -
I agree. However, the song might be better than anything on lightning bolt. Should of just called the new album backspacer2jack cameron wrote:HIGHLY overrated song...

I could not disagree with you more. It is NOTHING like Backspacer (that really isn't even an opinion, but a fact), and 1000 times better (definitely opinion :P ).RC153010 wrote:

yeah,im looking at you Just Breathe and Supersonic..
Wait I still haven't heard Supersonic live yet.
One of a handful that i have missed.
So I hope they pull it out in Hartford.380 -
Ugh. One of the worst PJ songs ever written. I don't understand why anyone would ever want to hear it live.... this song collecting makes sense to a point, but not when people want to hear HORRIBLE songs just so they can say they saw it.gregkitefan wrote:dimitrispearljam wrote:thank God they choose to play THAT song than others from Backspacer..

Good point, and agreed. I'd definitely take a big handful other songs over Unthought, but when I do hear it I'm not upset, even having heard it at 5 of the 6 shows I've been to.Johnny Abruzzo wrote:samjam wrote:It absolutely comes to life live. Yeah some of the setlist choices have been kinda strange. There were so many songs played at Philly 2 that were played at Brooklyn 2. Now I understand that there was a show between those two shows. But the exact same four opening songs just seemed odd. It actually seems as if setlists are getting a bit formulamatic. Pendulum > Three mellow songs > Rest of the first set. > Encore Break > Sit-down acoustic set > Four hard rockers > Encore Break > Covers/Hard Rockers/Alive > Songs with house lights up2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. Hear. Now. 2022: Camden, 2024: Philly 2, 2025: Pittsburgh 1

LB is nothing like backspacer. That's a fact.0 -
It's definitely a hell of a lot better than Unthought Known IMO. But again, some people are so in love with Unthought Known that they get tattoos of the lyrics and shit. So I support it being played so that these folks are happy.joebot wrote:Whywhyzed wrote:I like it, but I do think its in danger of getting overplayed.
Force of Nature, on the other hand..... not enough love for this one IMO.
AGREED ! Favorite song on the record. Not played enough. I love unthought known too !With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0 -
i love this song. dont have a problem when they play it. not sure why people get upset about them playing any song..........it's largely due to eddie that i liked to jump off of things as a child...0

..... i'd be pissed if I had to hear Ole. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0 -
superfan or not. ive seen them TONS of times, and i dont gripe when they play something too much. maybe its just that, people seeing them too much. i love all of the rarities they play, but im also grateful for the fact they are still putting out new music and i still get to see them live. cant wait to hear all the ''are they really gonna play this song every night thread'' if and when they do stop. nothing lasts for ever. enjoy what you can, while you can.it's largely due to eddie that i liked to jump off of things as a child...0

Yeah, I definitely don't get complaining about them playing their great hits a lot. Not everyone at the show is a 10C member and goes to a bunch of shows. The majority of the people at the shows only see that one show, and want to hear the songs that PJ tends to play a lot.jimbojones1138 wrote:superfan or not. ive seen them TONS of times, and i dont gripe when they play something too much. maybe its just that, people seeing them too much. i love all of the rarities they play, but im also grateful for the fact they are still putting out new music and i still get to see them live. cant wait to hear all the ''are they really gonna play this song every night thread'' if and when they do stop. nothing lasts for ever. enjoy what you can, while you can. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.
