The thing is, I rather have one single vinyl record than two... easier to listen too... So i sort of want the original release insetad because of that. My guess is, thiw will not sound all that much better.
I have the original, if I'm honest it's not the best sounding record I own - not as good as the other MOV reissues I have.

I have an original pressing as well and I thought it sounded pretty good. I can't remember which pressing it is. Actually I think it's a Brazilian pressing.

I'm still buying this new pressing though... Can't resist a colored repress :)

Mine is from the Netherlands, it's not awful, but like I said, the other MOV records I have sound much better - if they've managed to create that kind of quality, this reissue will sound incredible :D

I'm gonna say bootleg, only because ..

Michiel Kusters, from Music On Vinyl told me that ..

There’s only one color , black one will follow later
    All the best.

    .

Which online store is selling this red vinyl?
  • Is the red vinyl from Netherlands official or bootleg reissue?

According to discogs it's an A&M Records 1991 release, so official I guess :?

I picked up the A&M records Temple of the Dog red vinyl release a few years ago for $50 on ebay. The black vinyl always sells for several hundreds of dollars. Some say the red vinyl is a reissue from a factory reprinting colored vinyl in Europe. Mine says made in Holland for Polygram records number 395 350-1, but didn't come with liner notes/lyric sleeve. So I guess red/green/clear all are bootlegs from 2010. So I am happy to get a legit purple copy :)

Hmm, well if you type in a TOTD and look at all of the vinyl releases, there are two that don't state that it's unofficial.... I'm getting confused, the one you've linked to doesn't appear in the list that I've pulled up, I get these two listed as red:

If you bought in the past few years and it was a coloured vinyl it's a good bet it was a bootleg. I've seen a few ToTD boots floating around record shops in the past 2 or 3 years. Still in the shrink wrap as if they were brand new, excepy you knew it hadn't been pressed in 20 years.

If you bought one off ebay in the past few years, it's probably a fake. Much higher odds than having gotten lucky and found a copy of some uber rare coloured 1991 print for 50 bux....

I typed in "Temple Of The Dog red" and that was the first one I found.

Pretty much if it's not listed over @ http://www.pjcollectors.com/category_related.asp?id=3, then it's an unofficial / bootleg release.

And this is why I'm thinking even the ones ordered through Amazon will be purple. The same release date from the and from the same manufacturer. He said the black ones will be released later. So unless Amazon changes their release date (tomorrow) I have no reason to believe mine won't be purple. Either way I'm just looking forward to spinning it

Looking forward to this arriving shortly from What records. I'm sure the sound quality will be good but sometimes I dont think the artwork is always the best quality. A few times the record cover looks just like a blurry scan of an original.
