Has anyone heard of or will PJ/10C be issuing an official camera policy for this tour?

Specifically covering but necessarily limited to the following:

1) Are digitals allowed?
2) Disposables only?
3) No flash first 20 rows?

Also, any info on poster tubes or just the brown paper to wrap posters in?

The reason for seeking this info is that (at least for the Tweeter Center/Mansfield and Dodge Music Center/Hartford) the venues have VERY different policies that have a range of flexibility (Mansfield) or rigidness (Hartford) on items and also have many contradictions/grey areas as they relate to cameras and other stuff.

Perhaps this can be rationalized for the entire tour and issued prior so most everyone can be on the same page.

Thoughts, info?

Thanks

  • pretty sure the policy was that you're allowed to bring a camera or a tape recorder like they usually allow, no flash first 20 rows. as for the poster tubes, i think they said to bring them at your own risk because it's based on the venue's preferences and they can confiscate it

For cameras, the rule is 'no professional cameras'. This means no camera that has a detachable lens. Unfortunately, some venue employees don't have any clue how to determine if a camera fits this rule or not. Because of that, I've had issues bringing in my Canon S2 to shows. I had to use a smaller digital camera for the San Fran '06 shows because of that.

well, it was changed for Ed..so I'm not taking anything for granted.

I don't care about eh camera really, if I take one in it's only to take photos of the venues/my friends..it's too distracting during the show.

what I DO care about very much, is the taping policy! especially as it looks like the official boots are gone for good :(

could it be that they changed it for ed because he'd be doing more ITW stuff than pearl jam and there's some sort of copyright/legal issue that goes along with that? just speculating..

I was at a concert a few weeks ago, and I couldn't see the stage for everyone holding up their digital cameras or cell phone cameras. Really ruined the concert for me...and I'm 6'5''. Worrying about taking pictures takes away from the concert experience...leave em at home, and you'll have a better time.

Can you AT LEAST change your response, just a little bit?? Copy and paste for all the photo threads. Original.

i hear that. unless it's an outdoor show during daylight, it's very distracting. (not that i haven't been guilty of it in the past).
