the gf recently had surgery on her ankle, so standing in line for hours/plus the show isnt an option.going to worcester1 and am curious as to what i can expect if we are the last 2 to wait in the line to get in, and how terrible our standing area will be/how many rows back? she's bummed, so am i, but what can you do. we have a handicapped placard thing, but im sure that doesnt apply to rock concerts. :nono:

  • I haven't been in GA yet this tour. But I was in GA at Wrigley, and from what I read so far, if you walk in around 7 you can still get about half way up. I saw some people at Wrigley that showed up after 7 and were within the first 5-10 rows.

I agree with the previous poster that you can go in a little later and still get a good spot. I found that to be true in Pittsburgh - the people who waited in the long line for hours only made up about 1/2 of the GA area, the rest seemed to straggle in afterwards. I'd also recommend maybe buying a cheap folding chair to sit in - you can't take it into the venue but it would be a life-saver in the GA and merch lines. Also, it may not be such a bad thing to be further back especially given your girlfriend's ankle situation - it is GA, so even the most well-behaved crowds will still do some pushing jumping, etc.
I smile, but who am I kidding...

In Pittsburgh there was a small line of people with wheelchairs and one person on crutches lined up right beside the Ga line, and they were let in a few minutes before the actual GA line.. Not sure about their seating.. The GA section was (guessing) 20/25 rows deep, with a RESERVED floor seat section right behind.. I'd get there early enough to ask security about a handicapped entrance.

I got to th gate at about 635 in Pittsburgh and ended up getting into the pit at about 655. I was probably 30 feet away from the stage, the seats were unreal. I wouldn't even consider showing up before 630, you will still have an amazing view.

There was a GA Floor SEAT section? Or just floor seats that you mistakenly referred to as GA? you and the poster that followed seem to indicate that some of the GA section is seats. Is this right or just a misuse of the term GA (general Admission)? All of the shows have floor seats, but I didn't think they were GA. Or is the GA really broken up into traditional standing GA and seated GA. Just curious for clarity. Thank you.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.

Oops... Sorry about that...The floor seats behind the pit were RESERVED, NOT GENERAL ADMISSION... Sorry for the mix up..

I've posted my Buffalo story a few times already . . . but i would recommend lining up early-ish. People who showed up at 6:00 at Buffalo would not have been close to the stage in the pit at all., but that was mainlu due to the way they operated the entry. We showed up at 4/4:30 and were 2 to 3 peple deep in front of Jeff's mic. The people at the front of our GA line apparently showed up at 8am and we still ended up closer to the stage than them.

So lining up super early is pointless, but a couple of hours before the doors open certainly will help your chances. What I found the worst (and this may be a problem for your GF), was standing IN THE PIT for another 2 hours before showtime. It was very hot & stuffy in there, and you can't really sit down or stretch your legs like we could while waiting outside the venue.

But hten again, I know of a few people who clearly pushed/worked their way forward in the pit as the show went on, so that is certainly possible as well, meaninf you COULD show up later and plan on just moving through the pit crowd.

  • We got there at 2:30 and ended up three or four people back. We were between Mike and ED. My buddy, who has the blatter of an 85-year-old man, went to go pee toward the end of the show (during "Alive" I think). He said the view in the back was just fine. So, even if you show up right before the show starts, you should be able to see OK. It was still pretty rad to be up front!

The crowd around me was very respectful, aside from the one drunk woman who couldn't even stand before the show started. She kept bending over and hitting everyone around her. Her boyfriend said she hadn't had anything to drink. That was a lie. She snuck in a flask and water bottle (which I don't believe was filled with water). Her boyfriend eventually pulled her out of the pit. A few of us were about to tell security about her because we were fearing getting hurled on.

thanks for the replies gang, totally appreciate it. i already did the wait forever to have a good view of the band at acl, and vowed never again to do that. just curious if we are gonna be 50 rows back and wishing i got 2 reserved seats, but it doesnt sound like thats the case. as long as we can see them decent is what im concerned about, and her ankle not getting crushed.
  • We got to the pittsburgh GA pit around 6:45 and ended up dead center about 20 feet back from the stage. There wasn't a ton of pushing where we were, just lots of friendly 10c members.

In Buffalo, you could use any entrance. We went to an entrance seemed like it was blocked off due to construction, and this was well after 6:30. Walked right in. The ticket checkers were standing around where we went in. We were probably 8-10 rows back getting in that late.

Standing for a couple hours prior to the start is not fun--in any situation. That's for sure.

The crowd in Buffalo was very relaxed, aside from the occasional crowd surfer. The worst part was the person who kept farting throughout the show.
