It seems that LB has gotten so much build up and promotion. In fact, I don't recall that any other PJ album had so much press before its release. Backspacer had some with the Target campaign.

I felt it was different. I don't know if it was more or less.

It also seemed very targetted at the existing fan base. IE emails about youtube videos and what not going to out to emails of 10c members or facebook/twitter followers of the band.

It seems like a lot because we're tuned in. I'm not sure how effective it was at everyone else?

Bob Rock, err... Brendan O'Brien must want people to hear his music and take some more notice of him. Just in case people missed his huge name in the cd booklet, him moderating their town hall, his solos, him playing on stage, him playing guitar on the album or some of the cheez he's added all over the place.

    Just saying... ;)

I have enjoyed the build up to this album - Loved the interviews, esp Judd's as it was 50 minutes long, but all of them were great.
The existing fans have been given a greater insight into the making of this album than ever before (excluding SVT, which was after album was released) and I have loved that.
They will never please everyone, someone will probably complain that they are doing too much, but it is very selective in my opinion.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me

Enjoy the vignettes and such and wish they did more things like them even when an album is not immediately forthcoming. I've always wished that the band would interact a bit more with the fans on its website, etc.
