He is so fucking talented. A modern day poet. Can anyone name a single music artist that has put words to music better than him over the last 20+ years? I think not.

Let's put a list together of our favorite Ed lyrics. Try to keep it to short one liners. The more obscure the better. I'll start it. You top it. And as you remember more, post it.

"It's like his thoughts are too big for his size"

Yeah, man. I'm absolutely with you on Ed's status. It's one of those things where there are so many examples, I literaly can't think of one right now...gonna need a minute to think of some of my favorites

"I never knew soap made you taller"

I've always loved that line. I was a media major in college and this line always struck a chord with me. Advertising fucking bullshit.

"And there is no god with a plan"

Truth right there. I wish more people could accept that and move on.

I think I'm the only one playing, by the way, haha

You know, I always thought that but I just checked and it says composers Ament/Vedder so I just assumed the credit went to Ed on that. Maybe the lyrics are Jeff's though. Jeff is the fucking man regardless.

Maynard is without a doubt extremely solid. Save for some stuff on Opiate but that doesn't really count. I would also argue Thom Yorke.

For Ole and Johnny Guitar Ed gets taken down a peg but his highs are still higher than both the guys I've mentioned above.

    Thom Yorke
    Isaac Brock
    Kristian Matsson
    Conor Oberst

I realize that some of them haven't been writing for as long as Eddie, but their lyrics are just as good.

Besides the two songs I wrote above, I could also include Unthought Known. Almost that whole record, actually. It's like he just gave up for a minute there. He even so much as admits it in the PJ20 movie.

Fine. Though I would disagree with 3 or 4, I would also add Tom Waits and Zack de la Rocha in there.
