No opener for Brooklyn? What does this mean?

My confirm e-mail for Brooklyn night 1 included this statement: "Doors open at 6:30pm. There will not be an opener for this show. Pearl Jam will start at 7:30pm."

Does this mean we are in store for a 3 hour plus show? I can't imagine them coming on much after 8PM and can't see them stopping much before 11PM. Is this unique to NY or will there be openers for any of the other US shows?

Thoughts?

  • I am going to both Philly shows and there is no opener there either. They probably do not have an opener for the whole tour

None of the shows on the first leg of the tour will have an opening act.

I'd say 2½ hours is what you should expect. Some shows will probably be a bit longer.

Been to many shows but can't recall ever going to one without an opener. If this has happened in the past does anyone remember how early the band came on and if they have ever stopped playing before 11PM? I see that some expect a 2.5 hour set. So if they come on at 8 or earlier are people really expecting them to pack it in at 10:30 or earlier? I can't see that happening especially in NY but maybe it has? And can we really expect PJ to take the stage before 8 as the e-mail from the Ten Club states?

Ed said on the Town Hall that there may be some "setlist experimentation" this tour. Maybe they're going to do something completely different.....

With 2 shows I think we should see some setlist variation. I wouldn't expect many repeats. Can't wait.

In Buffalo on Saturday, they came on around 8:20ish and played until just before 11. Looks to be the same in Pittsburgh the night before. We got a solid 30 song setlist, and I don't think anyone missed having an opening act. No need to warm up this crowd!
Makes much more sense to live in the present tense.

They tweeted a short while ago (this morning) a reminder that PJ starts at 8, since there is no opener. This is different than the 7:30 time which was included in the email confirmations which came out last week. :D Looking FWD to Barc night 2!
