It's all Onions

I don't know if it's just me or what but every time I open just about any on-line news page lately I get the feeling I'm looking at the front page of The Onion. It's like the whole world's become a friggin' joke.

I'm just not feeling really confident about any news source these days. Maybe there's some obscure news site posted from the outskirts of the Kerguelen Islands? Or maybe I should just stick with The (Real) Onion.

I saw that interview last night. I'll give Stewert some credit for not taking it easy on her. In fact, he pretty much shredded her on Obamacare business exemptions and called her a liar to her face.

I think it's a combination...there's the news itself - showing how utterly fucked up some situations and people can be - coupled with agendas and biases, and therefore not really accurate reporting, on the part of the majority of "sources".

(I do love me a grilled onion though)
  • I know what you mean Brian. It seems that the oddities and levels of weird and outlandish have escalated.

Yes! Weird outlandish "new" articles such seem to be the requisite on these pages.

What really gets me as well is places like Huffington Post. Normally well written and insightful, the cover page of there on-line news looks like the National Inquirer. Maybe it's partly due to the popular ads plastered all over the sides. Check it out:

But I guess it's 'fun.'"

  • This is the mainstream media for you. Some simple advice: kill your tv.

Or you can just watch international news. They have no reason to be biased.

    this

it seems, i let world events & the stories from them, find me. i haven't had a working television in something like 6 years or some shit except for that short time period when my landlord gave me a little red dora the explorer televison set that i fucked around with for about 1 week.

no commercials telling me what i need, no propaganda, no 112 channels & nothing on bullshit to deal with & so on & so forth. therefore, i am found spending too much time on here. i actually get pretty much all my news information from you people & what i come across myself
