I don't get why people are all gaga over let the records play. It's an alright song, but the chorus is not the best. I give it a B and I give Infallible and Swallowed Whole both As.

Really hard to give each song a grade so soon after release. Almost have to give it a few concerts to see where it really falls.

Right now, I like hearing every song. I think the only thing that sounds odd to me is the first half of "Let the Records Play"...the second half of that song makes up for it tho.

After about 10 listens to the album in full... bare in mind the quality of the stream isn't the best... it's suitable for what it is but these songs will sound better on a nice sound system from actual retail releases...

Just a few quirks I have are the chorus in Infalible kinda takes away from the cool choppy verse parts, and the weeahoo weeeahoo sounds in lighting bolt makes me think of disney radio or something lol...I love the song though...just hate those little parts... I gotta listen to the album from Let the Record Play on a few more times to get a better opinion on the last couple songs...I really like Yellow Moon though. Anywho just my opinion..I like the album and think its better then backspacer. Something in the writing process changed after Riot Act though...just cant figure out what it is

I've been a pretty harsh critic of the band in recent years. Relative to the bands other work, I absolutely hated backspacer. The only song on that album that I think should not be retired is 'Got Some'. 'Johnny Guitar' is a decent tune that would've gotten a lot more respect from me had it been a b-side. The rest of the album just seemed underdeveloped and completely uninspired. I didn't even think self-titled was all that special, but it has grown on me over the past seven years, and it's an okay addition to the catalog. Just trying to add a little context. Having just let that little rant out of my system, I really feel this strongly about these songs right now, granted it's still fresh and my opinion is subject to change. And probably will. But here's my scale...

I still would prefer Riot Act to this album, and maybe even Binural. And that might never change. But if you want to look at it from a standpoint of the consistency of quality from song to song, I think this might be their best album since Yield.

Sirens and Infallible are my two favorites right now. Getaway, and My Father's Son were two that I didn't like at first but after the third listen they grew on me a little bit. I still think they are only average PJ songs. All in all, its a good album, probably one of their most different sounding albums. I think they really have a few different "eras" of sound. Ten, Vs, and Vitalogy being the first, No Code and Yield being the second, Binaural, Riot Act and Pearl Jam being the third, and Backspacer and Lighting Bolt being the current sound.

I have given the album a good 20 listens all the way through. I love the arrangement but just can't get into Sirens. This will be my bathroom break song this tour. Infallible and Yellow Moon are growing on me and I don't mind the full band version of Sleeping By Myself. Getaway f'n rocks though and LOVE Swallowed Hole and Let The Record Play.
