Hey any local Philadelphia fans that can recommend a good bar to go to preshow. Hoping for something within walking distance to my hotel in rittenhouse square and easy train access to the concert. Coming down early monday. Already looking to hit up monks cafe but would like to try something else as well. Any help Appreciated.

  • Hey! by the stadiums, there are not many "local walkable bars." However, there is McFaddens, which is located in Citizens Bank Park and open to the outside. There is also Xfinity Live. That is a mega entertainment complex, which is on the grounds of where the Spectrum (RIP) sat. They will be packed with people.
  • Yeah I know last went there for the final two shows at the spectrum and mcfaddans was alright just looking for a little more local dive bar feel. Rather stay away from the stadium area till showtime. Thanks Though!!!

There'll be a ton of like-minded fans there and even a fundraiser or two for a local "good cause" or two. You can even win PJ items (or if you have anything to donate to the raffle/silent auction, I'm sure they're still accepting items.)

  • Turf Club is right there by the stadiums too. But I'm hoping xfinity will be WILDN OUT after the shows...
In July 2007 Densmore said that he would not rejoin The Doors unless it was fronted by Eddie Vedder. Densmore says, "I play with Jim. If there's someone of that level, OK. I'm not gonna join them with Ian. That's not to diss Ian, he's a good singer - but he's no Jim Morrison. Eddie Vedder? My God, there's a singer."

This is from the Philly roll call thread:

People coming to Philly who do not yet already know...Philadelphia has a Pearl Jam bar! The Irish Pol (45 S. 3rd St) is a HUGE supported of PJ, and actually does a weekly event called MonkeyWrench Mondays where they play ALL Pearl Jam ALL night long! In fact, there are discounts if you wear PJ gear or you can even bring your own 5-song playlist on your ipod or phone for a discount.

This has become a traditional gather place for local Pearl Jam fans, and a meeting spot for out-of-towners when Pearl Jam (or side projects) happen to be in the city. I have seen many a friendship blossom.

Since Pearl Jam coincidentally happens to be playing on a Monday night there will obviously be a huge party before and after the show! If you bring your ticket stub after the show, you will get happy hour prices until closing time (almost every beer on tap for just $3 and $3 shots...oh, btw, they have 40 taps of craft beer!)

Support those who support Pearl Jam.
  • I live in Philly near Rittenhouse Square. I know some good pre-show options all within a short walk of the Broad St. subway line which is the easiest way to get to the show. The Black Sheep (17th just off Locust) and Jose Pistolas (15th and Locust) are both stellar bars with good food too. Misconduct Tavern in same area is also solid (but not as divey). If you're looking for a real dive (and no food) try Dirty Franks at 13th and Pine.

Dirty Franks is a real dive bar.
Another option is Bob and Barbara's 1509 South St which will be fairly close to the Broad St Septa line to get to Wells Fargo. I think they still have a $3 PBR can and shot of Jim Bean special, but inflation may have changed that. Last time I was there about 6 years ago the place was all decked out in PBR nostalgia.
Black Sheep is solid bar with decent food.

B&B's is definitely the way to go. I think the Special may be a whopping $3.50 now.
