So what have we learned between 90 and 80 days:
- we have seen the cover of the new album
- we know it's title
- we heard three songs: MYM, LB and FD
What have we learned between 80 and 70 days:
- The Mike McReady wrote the music for MYM
- That he came up with the title of the song (unclear)
- That the album took 1.5 years to make over two sessions
- That the song Sirens is confirmed
- That there are songs on the album that are over 5 minutes and that BOB consider some of the songs "deep"; at least more in-depth than BS.
- That there is also a song on there with the elusive title "Infallible-or something"
What have we learned between 70 and 60 days:
- Very little really. We have a vague unconfirmed tracklist with of course MYM, FD, LB and Sirens, Infallible and SBM. But also other interesting titles like: Apollo, Post Script, Sane and Tame and probably the most anticipated songtitle in the whole PJ catalogue: *Where is the Sponge*.
Where indeed...
What have we learned between 60 and 50 days:
- We saw the new MYM music video and the video, no matter what your take on it is, sparked some discussions
(a very interesting review on TSIS)
- There will be a listening party the third of september with Brendan O'Brien at the Ramones Museum in Berlin
- Niall Doherty, the review editor of Q magazine in the UK supposedly tweeted re. the title song of the album (and did he hear the whole album?): Title track of the new Pearl Jam album is the best of all their worlds: hard, heavy, a ballad, lighter-waver, fire-starter, epic & intimate.
What have we learned between 50 and 40 days:
Exciting, exciting times.
- The tracklist was released in a most ingineous way, that also immidiatly introduced the artwork of the album. It at least got me hooked for a week on this forum
- There were some listening parties where the reviews were mixed but were overall positive and gave the impression that this album is going to be a slow burner
- And we learned that this is a moodier album with some "experimental" elements and from what I can read some very dark lyrics
- we also learned that the "handclap" is possibly in Let the Records Play and that violin is used in Future Days
- It is unclear if the strange distorted guitar/ piano introduced to us on the very first trailer will appear on the album. If it is on there, it is probably on Pendelum, but unclear
- Official reviews started leaking in
- and it is confirmed now: SBM is on the album and it seems a lighter version than the Uke version; in the sense that the tonation in the lyrics have changed. (Maybe a good transition after the supposed "fun" Let the Records Play?)
- we saw a vignette of Ed Vedder writing the lyrics for MYM and having a severe case of writers block
What have we learned between 40 and 30 days:
- we saw a vignette of Jeff playing an upright bass to an unknown song. (Some contemplate Sirens, other suggest Pendelum.)
- we saw some heated debates about the use or ill-use of SBM
- we heard an interesting and very open interview of Mike on the radio
- we learned that Mike composed MYM and Sirens, and that Jeff composed Infallible and Yellow Moon
- we also heard that 15 songs didn't make the album; most of them were unfinished and riffs, two were almost finished, either way time for Lost Dogs II!)
- of those who heard the album during the listenings state that LB is more experimental, for a lack of better word, than BS. Some of the favourite songs mentioned are Infallible, Pendelum, My Fathers Son and Yellow Moon
What have we learned between 30 dan 20 days:
- After some speculation the second single and video was realeased. It was Sirens.
- This sparked probably one of the most vivid and highest debates in the community for a very long time
- There was also another vignette released: of Stone this time with (what seems presumably) Infallible in the background...
What have we learned between 20 and 10 days:
- We saw an EPK made by David Clinch where we heard the songs MYM, LB, FD and Getaway.
- We saw also tidbits of interviews, which turned out to be complete interviews (you have to give it to the PR on this album: everything is a countdown within a countdown)
- We saw another vignette where Ed threw some axes and where we heard LRCP in the background. (Which begs the question: to which song was Jeff playing????)
- There is an outpour now of all the interviews that were on the EPK
- And also an outpour of reviews that ranks LB pretty high...
And the bomb is still ticking...
