Eh... The classy thing would have been to leave out the plug.

I agree the plug shouldnt have been there but the sincerity with Gleason and the band is there which matters too.

actually, I never noticed the "huge", I only notice that so many people do "my" last name Dillion, instead of Dillon.

Amazing, emotional and inspiring piece. I can't wait to see the whole thing. Too bad someone had to come on and blame people on here for complaining about something. I think that shows more poor taste than the LB album plug at the end. Which I completely forgot about until it was pointed out....

    Wind this thing up.

  • Point proved again. You are the same people who bitch about the lottery and cd artwork. My whole point was that this guy has real problems and some people on this board should stop complaining about trival worthless things and be gratefull for what they have. Bitching that espn is a terrible network and that the nfl countdown announcers are terrible is just a waste of everyone's time. Put things in prospective. Maybe if some of u did than this board would be a better place to be and maybe the world would be a little better too.

I don't disagree with you. There are many things that could be done to make the world a better place. I am sure you had good intentions but it does not come off well the way you put it. As far as tickets, people pay money so they have a vested interest. CD artwork is ART and all art is open for criticism. ESPN IS a terrible network that feeds the greed ( although I watch it...) Telling people to stop complaining doesn't inspire change. On here that is open grounds for an onslaught of criticism.

    Wind this thing up.

  • I said my peace. Either read it and learn or be closed minded and continue to bitch about t shirt sizes and tickets.

Thank you ... and It was so much more hearing Mike and Eddie and watching the guys talking to a HUMAN and not a disability. Do some of you remember back in Hamburg or some show in Europe, there was a person in a wheelchair, and during soundcheck Eddie was on his skateboard. Instead of ignoring the guy or talking to him like he was a broken person, he asked him if he wanted to "race around before the show?" and what he thought about the weather, opening act, etc.. two people having a conversation. Not a handicapped person being spoken down to by a capped person. (yeah I guess that's what I call ya'llz who can.) It was hard hearing him talk about his dad, because I remember seeing pictures of his dad back when he had a band, and they played the Green Mill or Buddy Guy's joints in Chicago. (Buddy's moved..but Green Mill with the newer owner, Dave Jemillo are still there, and we're there in December for husband's shows.) There used to be a picture of the band up at the USO in the training station too that I remember. I was taken aback that Eddie didn't know his dad was good. His dad was REALLY good according to a lot of the locals back then. And the thing that struck me.. he looks so much like his dad. I just saw the pair of them in his eyes when he was answering that question and talking about hearing the four songs. I saw his Dad in him. It was a beautiful tie in seeing Rivers with his dad listening to music together. That made my whole morning.

Very deeply powerful. Thanks for sharing this interview, and thanks for reminding us that there are families were have no blood tie to who we are FAMILY with.... (I ignore all the spatty stuff) I'll always consider their music family blood.

    Beautiful.

  • Awesome piece, very moving.

Does anyone know if this is the exact same version the Tuesday E:60 show will have? Or is that going to be a longer version?

I love the part when Steve says he feels it is a mutual relationship and that they weren't just interacting with him out of pity or charity. I'm so glad they are in each other's lives and can inspire each other and inspire us. I can't wait to see the full piece, I'm assuming they will air it soon (hopefully Tuesday?). I can sometimes get down on our band but seeing something like this reminds me why I'm a fan and will continue to be for a very long time, maybe even forever. When it comes to things that really matter, they hit it out of the park with their choices. It makes everything else more than ok and not really that important to me. They are just really good people in addition to being a kick ass band, I couldn't ask for anything more as a fan.
