^^^^^^ glad you got yourself fired!

as for Lone Star, I once pointed out a giant moth who was stuck (attempting to get unstuck) in the dressing on my buddy's salad....I figured, free meals for sure....uh, no....the ONE salad was taken of the bill. Fukkers.

Lol! Well that is an unfortunate experience! That chain was always balancing on the edge of going broke (it finally did, in 1995)... they probably couldn't afford to give you the whole meal for free! ;) .... But you should have got a free round of drinks at least.

I worked in a pet store on weekends when I was 13 and 14, feeding animals and cleaning cages. Far below minimum wage, since I was so young. I liked almost all of the work except having to feed some of the reptiles mealworms. They horrified me then and they still do - bulgy, wriggling little bits of disgustingness. I always left that job to the end but that didn't make it any better.

And as for restaurant stories - I once ordered a dessert in a fancy restaurant and it was garnished with whipped cream and a few sprigs of mint. I started to eat the dessert then got distracted by something out the window. When I looked back at my plate, a snail was (slowly) making its way across the plate. It must have been hiding in the mint, which suggests no-one washed it very thoroughly. I called the waiter over and pointed it out, and he went white and looked like he was going to faint. He whisked the plate away without even saying anything. They later said they would "of course" not charge us for the dessert! We laughed and said they were going to have to do better than that. In the end they dropped the price of the bottle of wine and two desserts, but I agree, the whole meal should have been free. We told a bunch of people about it. A few months later the restaurant went out of business. Coincidence?? :)

Now I feel really badly - I didn't ask about the future of the snail!! Likely brief, I would think.

The mint was smaller than you would expect for having hidden a full grown snail. They are crafty little critters. It was probably dressed in camo.

There was a chunk of glass in these oyster shots that i had at a restaurant once (The Rugby Club). I was really lucky to have found it before eating it. Pure coincidence that i did. They did comp my whole bill... but also went out of business later, although it was a pretty decent place. I think it was that their signage sucked. No one knew it was there.

I was the clown for birthday parties at Dairy Queen. I also handled all of the Little League teams when everyone else just got to help the parents. Can I tell you how I loved when the coach would tell them to order whatever they wanted? ~X( I would be making everything when someone else only had to make a little ice cream cone. I was allergic to the make-up because the dude was too cheap to buy new, so I quit my job and went to work for the grocery across the plaza. I worked there through high school and part way through college.
