While it’s possible to make sense of why “non-essential” employees are sent home and other services are closed during the government shutdown, it continues to boggle the mind why websites, the operations cost of which are negligible, have been shut down.
No, it really doesn't boggle anything. The government shutdown. That means actual things, like federal offices, national parks, government websites, also shut down.
What did these people think was going to happen when the government shutdown? Nothing was going to close? That boggles the mind.
Why would that website have to be shut down? Does it need employees to run it?
Michelle Obama's twitter feed is "shut down" due to the government. She can't tweet with her own fingers?
Too bad they didn't shut down the Obamacare website.

Of course it needs people to run it. You think a website just runs on it's own? You think a government-run website that's under constant cyber-attack and actually has to have moderators monitoring it 24/7 just magically runs itself?
I mean... I work for a porn site and we have a staff of 26 people.

Well she did have to send her sixteen assistants home. She has a tough life.
Her personal staff aren't government employees. They're all paid for by the Obamas themselves. So her staff are all still working.
care to make anything else up today?
Unless you're talking about the people on White house staff who also work with the First Lady. In which case there are 24 people who are on her staff and yes... many of them aren't working now but some of them are.
by the way...
"Lelyveld said that Michelle Obama’s staff was actually no different than that of her predecessor, Laura Bush. “[W]e have exactly the same staff number as Mrs. Bush and our office organization reflects a similar staffing model, so insinuations otherwise are wrong,” she said. Lelyveld said that the White House’s “personnel records indicate” that there were 24 staffers for Laura Bush at some point.

Yup it's all Obama's fault, case closed and thanks for sharing.

She stopped using Twitter in March.
https://twitter.com/MichelleObama I assume you can read dates.
Because of the endless attacks and racist comments from the Tea Terrorists.
Try again.
