Ticket Trades - best practices or advice?

hey all,
I've been chatting with another 10c member on the forum about trading my extra PHX 10C ticket for his extra Dallas 10C ticket. Our plan is to trade straight up, and it seems pretty straight forward, but we're both being careful since we don't know each other. And buying plane tickets, etc, is a big investment. I'm reasonably confident that I'm not going to get screwed, and vice versa, but is there any advice from anyone who's done this before? like do people use escrow accounts or anything? I'm guessing we're not the first people with this dilemma.

My apologies if this has been posted elsewhere - I looked around and didn't see anything.

Done this a few times and never had a problem, there are some pretty awesome people here! I understand your concerns but I think you just have to take the chance :)

There is an element of trust in trading. If someone gives off a vibe you don't like, don't do it but it doesn't sound like that's the case here.

I've just been trading phone numbers and 10c confirmations just to make sure we both feel comfortable (and personally to make sure I'm not screwing up dates!). I also ask if they are coming to the show from out of town or if they are local just so I know what to expect. If someone is coming from out of town and their flight lands the day of, then I might be concerned.

I've seen other posts about this where people try to put more of a process to ticket trades (like paypaling money ahead of time), I personally prefer the leap of faith approach :) I've actually made some good friends just by trading/buying tickets and haven't had a bad experience yet (fingers crossed). I genuinely believe that most people are not out to screw others, especially from this community and it makes me feel good to be proven right time and time again.

I think Suziemay is bang on. I've had nothing but great, positive dealings with many complete strangers in this forum. Not that you should bring your guard all the way down, but I've done some leaps of faith in this club and have never been let down.

phone numbers are probably the best way - as well as maybe verification on facebook? just another level of comfort?

one of you is going to have to trust the other to come through with that later show ticket... sure you could receive money in paypal but in the end you want the ticket not to be outside a venue with a refund in your account

best of luck... many many trades happen without issue

thanks for the insight, everyone. that lines up with what we've both been talking about - we just didn't know if there was anything more official.
