Ok all anyone fancy a little game....

here it is, we all have to give what we think the setlist will be for the Dublin gig and the person who gets it bang on our within ONE song wins a prize of some sort. That is the only stipulation, don't come crying if you're within two or they started playing why go but didn't do it in full.

Anyone up for it, I'll post mine when I have a bit more time ;)

Over to you.....

P.S. it has to be completed by 6pm (irish time) the day before the Dublin gig 22st of Aug :D

RESULTS:

BYRNZIE 13
HOUSING JIM 29
SOONFORGOTTEN2 11
NAH 22

    The Body of an American

    By Shane MacGowan (1986)

The cadillac stood by the house
And the yanks they were within
And the tinker boys they hissed advice
    'Hot-wire her with a pin'
Then we turned and shook as we had a look
In the room where the dead men lay
So big Jim Dwyer made his last trip
To the home where his father's laid

    But fifteen minutes later
We had our first taste of whiskey
    There was uncles giving lectures
    On ancient Irish history
The men all started telling jokes
And the women they got frisky
At five o'clock in the evening
    Every bastard there was piskey

    Fare thee well going away
    There's nothing left to say
Farewell to New York City boys
    To Boston and PA
    He took them out
    With a well-aimed clout
He was often heard to say
I'm a free born man of the USA

He fought the champ in Pittsburgh
And he slashed him to the ground
    He took on Tiny Tartanella
And it only went one round
He never had no time for reds
For drink or dice or whores
And he never threw a fight
    Unless the fight was right
So they sent him to the war

    Fare the well gone away
    There's nothing left to say
With a slainte Joe and Erin go
    My love's in Amerikay
    The calling of the rosary
    Spanish wine from far away
I'm a free born man of the USA

    This morning on the harbour
When I said goodbye to you
    I remember how I swore
That I'd come back to you one day
And as the sunset came to meet
    The evening on the hill
I told you I'd always love you
I always did and I always will

    Fare thee well gone away
    There's nothing left to say
    'cept to say adieu
    To your eyes as blue
As the water in the bay
    And to big Jim Dwyer
    The man of wire
Who was often heard to say
I'm a free born man of the USA

I say the prize goes to whomever is closer to the real thing
since I doubt anyone will be able to nail it all but for 1 song, as you suggested!

I am working on a complex mathematical formula for calculating the set list based on the following variables:

    1. how drunk I am when creating the list
    2. how drunk I am when writing the formula
    3. whether EV will wear shorts or full length pants at the gig.

I will return with my results at a later date............

Everything comes down to a mathematical calculation but.... so many variables!!!! Dublin will be done and dusted before you come up with a solution!:D

So is it about getting all the songs right without naming a whole bunch of extra songs? or just about guessing the songs, regardless of number? If it's the latter, there should maybe be a cap of 28-30 songs that someone can select.

So placement does in fact count? This should be interesting.

    This should be interesting.

interesting if you were some kind of Dustin Hoffman character from Rain Man..."gotta play Lukin, gotta play Lukin .... never crashed, never crashed"

how fuckin difficult is this gonna be... the odds of getting 6 correct numbers IN ANY ORDER out of 49 in the national lottery are about 416million to one...

PJ has about 130 songs they could play.... in any humungously gigungously massive degree of random variations

the only constants in the equation are perhaps... encore 1 and encore 2... the rest is nigh on impossible.. ;);)

i'll play in a minute though
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
