  • I should have known this wasn't real. If I was Dave, I wouldn't have Pearl Jam on. After years of playing on Dave's show (No Code through Avocado to be exact), they totally sold him out to be on Conan's first Tonight Show. Perhaps the logic was "Well Conan is young and hip and will be around for a while and Dave can die any day now so fuck our relationship with Dave, let's get on this Conan gravy train." Not a bad thought from a business sense. But as soon as Conan is knocked down the ladder to basic cable, where does PJ go? Right to Jimmy Fallon of course. Talk about being a fairweather musical guest.

But, Ed played on Letterman back on 2011.

I don't think there is any bad relationship with David. IMO, the band just wanna try new things. Not to be exclusive to one Late Night talk show. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Settle down man, it's ok! Hell, Dave has had Conan as a guest! :::mind blown::::

It's not a gig, it's entertainment/advertising when playing TV. Think of if Dave got pissy everytime an actor went on Jay or Jimmy or Conan.

I seriously doubt that pj fucked their relationship with Dave. Have u seen Dave's ratings? He's probably begging the band to appear.
  • Well fair enough. And I forgot Eddie appeared solo in 2011.

If Jay Z had a tv show the band would step over their own mothers to play it.

Didn't Fallon's musical guest booker used to work with the band?

This logic is terrible. So if they have something to promote they should only go to the Late Show?

Every band plays every late night talk show, but PJ can't just because Dave is a fan?

I always assumed the reason they didn't do the Tonight Show previously was they don't like Leno, so once Conan took over it made sense to do it. No substance to this, just what I always figured.

I say Dave or SNL because those shows have the best stage sound. We're in it for the music!

More clarification on the Fallon connection
Jonathan Cohen, native Akronite and music booker for Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, recently released his first book "Pearl Jam Twenty" featuring interviews with members of the band.

I already said "fair enough" to the first 3 people that corrected my logic or lack thereof.

Is it 100 percent confirmed PJ is not on Letterman? How accurate are those sights (travel rage) as the Letterman sight doesn't list anyone yet? The reason I am asking as with my luck, Rachel from Letterman just called and had me answer a trivia question in which I barely got correct. I put my name in when I thought it was PJ. Though I don't hate Amos Lee (I own a few albums and actually just saw him at LIG) I would need sitters and the day off for my trip from CT if I decide to go.
