JANUARY 9, 2020 UPDATE: Top viewed PJ songs on YouTube are: (excluding song doubles. For example, if Black has two videos, one with 33M and one with 17M... just the 33M is listed in this update)

Black: 150M (up from 39M in Jan 2017) (up from 33.6M in Jan 2014)
Jeremy: 113M (up from 58.8M in Jan 2017) (up from 18.5M in Jan 2014 - WHHHAAAT THE FUCK? this doesn't make a hairy lick of sense... youtube is messing up the numbers imo.)
Even Flow: 95M (up from 55M in Jan 2017) (up from 17.3M in Jan 2014)
Alive: 67M (up from 49M in Jan 2017) (up from 13.2M in Jan 2014) - wow.... by this stage in my research I am blown away at the mega jump in numbers. I've been compiling this over the years, taking the top two videos on YouTube to account for my numbers. shit be craaaayyyyyyyfish
YLB: 122M (up from 45M in Jan 2017- sticking with my original "top 3 vids total" I guess lol) (up from 12.5M - I took the top 3 videos to get to 45M)
Last Kiss: 30M (up from 11.8M in Jan 2017- top 4 videos taken)
Just Breathe: 86M (up from 51M in Jan 2017 - again, I added the top 4 just to stick with my own weirdness) (up from 10.7M) - I added a shitload of the top videos to get 51M - blazing politician I could be.
Do The Evolution:  39M (up from 18M in Jan 2017) (up from 8.2M)
Sirens: 18M (up from 6.9M in Jan 2017) (WEIRD!! As of Fridayyyyy, Januaryyyyyy 6th, 2017, Sirens top two videos combine for a total of 5.9M views.... wtf is going on here? RIGGED!)

Sirens, a 5 month old infant song living a strong healthy early life, has moved up the ranks very quickly in the PJ catalogue according to this "study."

AS OF SEPT 20, 2013 (Scroll down for Oct 16, 2013 update)

Man, I love this one. I find myself singing the misheard version everytime I'm trying to sing the real song (by real I mean how it is on the recording, I'm aware of the impromptu nature of the song)

One day after the release of Lightning Bolt and the Sirens video (2.6+ million YouTube views) has now surpassed the ranks of The Fixer, Corduroy, Given To Fly and many other classics. Way to go Sirens!

Sirens is turning 5 months old in a few more hours: How has "she" faired on the YouTube charts? I've posted an update at the top of page 1 (which looks like it might be just.. this..... page)

  • It's tough to compare songs on YouTube. You can look at it and say, "Sirens was a bigger hit than Just Breathe" based on the views alone. I do think it was a bigger hit, but you can't only look at the views. Youtube is at its height of popularity and marketing right now. Pearl Jam promoted Sirens and their new album big on Youtube. So just for the fact that Just Breathe came out four years ago means that, all things equal, it's not going to get the same sort of views.

More recent songs in general will get more views, that's why you see songs like The End on there.

Just because Jimmy Fallon gets huge views on Youtube doesn't mean that it got better ratings than Letterman 10 years ago.

Then there are the live performances, the music videos, etc. I mean if Betterman had a music video, or Last Kiss, or whatever. how would it have faired? Granted, that black video on Youtube is just a live performance.

The views are interesting to look at but you can't really take anything away from them.

Other than how interesting they are. Furthermore, It's easy to compare songs on YouTube, when you're just looking at view count. I'd argue it's the easiest thing to do on the planet, forever, and ever and ever. I'm hassling you facetiously. I get your points and they're valid as well. This coffee.... ooohhhhh... it's SOOOOOo fuckin GOOD!

Sirens best mellow PJ love songs ever written. Usually, this musical muse makes him the most money.

    Exactly this.

If Youtube was around during Ten, those songs would be in the 100's of millions easily. You really can't make much of Sirens getting 7 million views in 6 months. It should be much higher than that if you ask me, especially considering how much they promoted it.

9 million in 6 months is still pretty good. But the Vevo version in which other artists get 9 million in a day, is surprisingly low. But I think that one is not being promoted as much.

The reaction video trend has PJ gaining new fans regularly. Every time I see one on YouTube, not only are the people “reacting” becoming fans, but so are their thousands of subscribers. It’s interesting. I have been curious about how it’s affected the #s so thanks for this... :)
