I wonder if the instructions Chester got before singing this was "try and sound like Scott as much as possible"
Has to be. It's expected, but when he takes it too far at the expense of his voice he loses me.
I'm not dismissing this union right off the bat, but the Deleo brothers' writing has really fallen off, so that doesn't bode well. The S/T album had some decent stuff but still lacked something that their initial run had.
The first tune with Chester was decent, but this one is pretty much garbage. None if it is really the fault of Bennington, though. Maybe the Deleo's just don't have it anymore.
Regardless of the vocals, the track is pretty much a generic paint-by-numbers late-period STP track. Maybe they'll get better. They should have just re-formed Talk Show, it's not like Dave Coutts is busy.
"See a broad to get dat booty yak 'em, leg 'er down, a smack 'em yak 'em!"
heard this on the radio the other day and could tell right away that is was the new STP song. Sounded like a combination of Army of Anyone with a smidge of old STP. not too bad.
