Next time try and make your point by not sounding like a condescending snob. You come off as being arrogant. You said it was just an opinion, well this was my opinion based off his opinion. That's all.
I do agree that opinions are like assholes.....everyone has one. Mine is no more valid than this guy's and his no more so than mine. (I dont think that is arrogant, I think that is a healthy way to view life. Take it in, digest it and if you dont like it, spit it out. Critics are, by definition, critical.)

It's stupid isn't it? I feel that way about any band or singer they constantly take the piss out of. Just don't listen to them and focus on who you DO like.

No that's completely fine, I'm ok with the guys' opinion. That's not the problem here. It's the way the guy who first commented on the post phrased his words. Who is he to tell me how I'm suppose to react to an article or whatever, regardless of how I feel about it. Maybe I'm just putting way too much into this, it just felt like he was being sort of a dick haha.
Wow really? My point was that everybody's opinion on music is just their personal opinion, and you should not be affected by other people's personal opinion. If the music moves you in some way is all that matters, even if its nickleback.
I'm sorry if I came across as arrogant or condescending snob, it was not my intention. I didn't think anything about my response was condescending :?
That guy doesn't know what he's talking about. He obviously wrote the article to attract views on his webpage. The article is 1 year old and doesn't have any comments.

In my musical opinion (I am very picky about my lead singers and prefer harder, slower, darker music) they were pretty bad/boring and were quickly removed from my ipod.

Not to hijack the thread, but can you recommend some new music to my ears fitting your description?
I'm not talking Black Sabbath or even Alice In Chains/Dirt 'dark' (whom I both love), but I can't listen to music that is too poppy/happy. I just like heavy bass lines and a good drum beat, along with some harder than average guitar shredding...is that so much to ask these new young bands to do?
As far as new music that I've discovered, The Walking Papers (although they are bluesy too) are awesome.
On a previous thread I asked for 'new music suggestions for grunge lovers' and Gaslight Anthem definitely didn't fit the bill.
Instead of going through the time to reserve, download and listen to unknown commodities, now I just check out suggestions on on youtube first...and of all the bands multiple people suggested, Black Angels, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and Band of Horses seemed to pass the first test.
Sorry...but I'm 40 years old and grew up on the big four Seattle bands, so I am still very picky about newer music (the jury is still out on My Morning Jacket, but I will give them another try).
I'm sure Gaslight Anthem is a fine band...for many people out there...but too soft for me.
QOTSA, Black Keys, Walking Papers...those are my post grunge era faves so far.
