Saw these guys up close and personal on the side stage before the main acts played last night at the San Diego UPROAR festival and...they are LEGIT!!!
What a fantastic sounding group with great songs and energy (KEYBOARDIST BEN...YOU ROCK!!!).
It was such a treat to be so close to Barrett Martin, not a household name to many, but such a great drummer with Screaming Trees and especially Mad Season.
Then of course there was Duff McKagen of GNR looking and sounding as good as ever.
And the lead singer Jeff Angell is a star in the making.
They sound like a mix between The Black Crowes and The White Stripes and I highly recommend their album.
After the show they immediately made themselves available to chat and sign CDs. The younger crowd at the festival enjoyed them I'm sure, but perhaps nobody there was more pleased to chat with Barrett Martin (and the other guys) for a few moments than myself.
p.s.
I caught the end of the Dead Daisies set and they sounded pretty good too. Missed Circa Survive, saw Coheed & Cambria for a bit (sounded really tight but not quite my style). Jane's Addiction was great with high flying hot ladies, including two suspended by just the skin of their backs! And then there was AIC...wow...my first time seeing them (hardly missed Layne) and they killed it of course.
Now I can really start to look forward to 3 PJ shows in 4 nights!
