Please explain to me, seriously, why anyone who owns these songs on other albums would buy this? There are obviously a few people in this thread serious about buying it.

Is a cd cover and back worth $20?

I could understand if it had even one unreleased song? But it doesn't.

    Help me understand the excitement.

We don't know the answer to that just yet. About any unreleased song. Or demo. Or live track etc.. that will be included on this compilation.

Many of these releases, The Essential, do included some rarities & bonus CD's (The Boss included a 3 disc of live goodies).

Until we have the full description, we can further talk about this Sony / Legacy release.

    ..

Weird though that it say's "rearviewmirror 1991-2003 ." Only saying this because the self titled record that was released in '06 was released by J Records / Sony Music. You would think some songs from that record would be on this greatest hits release.

Cool track list, but contains Backspacer tracks from Monkey Wrench Records. Doubt these will show up on this Sony release, but you never know. Might even include a track or from from Lightning Bolt. :P

  • I love The Essential series. Great way to get just the hits for the bands you don't really feel like taking a deep dive into their catalog.

True, but weird move by Sony to rehash the exact release of Pearl Jam's Rearview Mirror's Greatest Hits 2 CD set.

So it's identical to the Rearviewmirror greatest hits album other than the title? I don't get it.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

Has anyone else also noticed the DVD "Pearl Jam - Long Strange Road"?

    http://www.amazon.com/Pearl-Jam-Long-St ... =Pearl+jam

This title will be released on November 5, 2013.
    Pre-order now.
Ships from and sold by Amazon.com. Gift-wrap available.

    "Editorial Reviews
Although initially seen as purveyors of the Grunge sound and occasionally referred to as 'everyone's second favourite band from Seattle', Pearl Jam have, across almost a quarter of a century together, now become known as one of the world's very finest rock bands, and indeed their 60 million plus record sales to date is proof positive of their huge appeal. Pearl Jam - Long Strange Road is a 2 DVD celebration of this extraordinary band's longevity, talent and near flawless musical output. Featuring a DVD documentary tracing Pearl Jam's incredible story so far, and featuring interviews with Eddie and the rest of the guys, as well as contributions from close friends, colleagues and some of the finest rock critics around, plus plentiful archive, rare footage and seldom seen photographs, and with a second DVD featuring numerous filmed interviews with the group from different eras of their musical career, this double pack film collection is certain to delight Pearl Jam fans across the globe."

Does anyone know about this DVD, why isn't it availble for preorder thru 10c? Do you think this has the more of the recent interviews with Mark Richards, Carrie Brownstien & Steve Gleason. Do we think there might be new songs?

That DVD is bootleg - ie, non official. Don't expect much from it (including their music)

That's why it's not promoted here and I doubt it has those I interviews.

It's not really a bootleg if it's sold @ your local record store, HMV, Amazon, Future Shop, Walmart etc..

The one's who release these products do ( I'm guessing) pay royalties to Pearl Jam? If not, these products / sales wouldn't be happening & pulled off the shelves from Pearl Jam Co. a long time ago, am I right?

Search Pearl Jam on that site. Pretty much all 7 of those releases have been distributed all over the world. To many online & in store retail shops.
