Really? The idea of being lost in space freaks me the hell out.
This would be a horrible way to die! You would literally go insane after so long.. I'm with you! I just saw the trailer a few minutes ago, and I had a mild palpitation!
yeah but still looks very interesting. I'll see it.

I would gladly rather burn up in the atmosphere than watch Earthy slowly get smaller and smaller. Id probably just take my helmet off.
Yeah, but it's not like you immediately burn up, you'd slowly heat up until your suit melted and your body imploded in space's vacuum then your chunks would incinerate in the atmosphere.
Actually that does sound better than spinning off into the cold black of space.
Yeah. This would be bad. I'm pretty sure I would have vomited in my space suit from seeing earth come in and out of view. The more I think about it, the more disturbing it is. I probably won't see this movie...
“I suppose our capacity for self-delusion is boundless.”
― John Steinbeck, Travels with Charley: In Search of America
I'm kind of bummed really because I think I might like this one. But I get vertigo watching things spin- it was hard just to watch the trailer. Maybe the movie is based on a book or they'll come out with a movie-tie in or something. A survival story gone in orbit. Seems intriguing.
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
The trailer I saw didn't look that good to me. Looks like Open Water, only in space, and instead of sharks they have to dodge space debris. It might be better than that, you can't judge a film by the trailer, but it was mostly "look out for that", "grab on to this", etc. It looks like a technical wonder, but I can't tell if it's going to be any good. From what I can tell it's going to be George Clooney trying to calm down Sandra Bullock for 90 minutes with crazy good special effects.
I am going to see it though. And even though I rarely go to the theater, I'm going to make it a point to go out and see it there. It will probably lose a lot of its punch if you're not watching it on the big screen.
"See a broad to get dat booty yak 'em, leg 'er down, a smack 'em yak 'em!"
Remember that Futurama episode
where Bender got shot into space + couldn't stop himself?
Eventually, his body became host to a race of tiny aliens
who treat him as a god.
Then he actually meets... God... or something.
Anyways, I hope this movie will be as awesome as that-
but probably not.
Cheers.
'Cause you don't give blood and take it back again.
I wonder if this will trigger theaters to come up with the idea to deplete the oxygen while we watch the movie.
They seem to have all the other silly sales tactics..shaking chairs, insane 3D, and shit..why not starve our brains of oxygen too so we really know what Mr. Clooney is going through!

This is a GREAT idea!
Then drop the temperature in the theatre
for that austere space-like atmosphere.
Is anyone from AMC listening to this?!
Cheers.

That is a GREAT episode. And you're right -- I'm guessing there will be far fewer deities, nuclear wars and space piano playing in Gravity than in the Futurama episode.
I would gladly rather burn up in the atmosphere than watch Earthy slowly get smaller and smaller. Id probably just take my helmet off.
I think I'd prefer drifting through space away from Earth rather than burning up, and certainly rather than taking my helmet off. Burning would be painful, and taking the helmet off -- while resulting in my unconsciousness within about 10 seconds -- would be pretty brutal.
No, I think I'd rather drift off into space and pass out (and eventually die) from a lack of oxygen, secure in the knowledge that I will travel further than any other human ever before. Granted, I'd be dead, but it'd be a bigger accomplishment than what most other dead people achieve.

Saw it this afternoon with my 12 year old daughter - in 3D...
Fantastic movie experience, creatively definitely one of the best movies I have ever seen.
Don't wait for the small screen for this one. Do it right, IMAX, 3D, etc...you will NOT be disappointed...
Not that I'm a fan of Academy Awards, etc... But if Sandra Bullock and the creative team behind creating this flick, don't haul in awards for this puppy, I'm not sure what sort of movie experience or acting job will.
Super flick...pretty jaw dropping and mesmerizing...my daughter was stunned driving home

Watched a 3D showing of Gravity this morning. I'm usually not a big fan of 3D, but I'm really glad I watched Gravity in this format. The visuals were really outstanding. I loved the movie..just great filmmaking!

Saw it tonight IMAX 3D. 3D is definitely way to go. There were a few times during the movie where I almost felt like I was running out of oxygen. One of the most intense movies I've ever watched, and one that should be experienced on the big screen.

It would be no fun for sure, but I'm not sure I'd lose sleep over the idea.
Actually now that I think about it, yeah...it would kinda suck.
Would be worse if you spun off towards Earth's gravitational pull. AKA...slowly burning to death.
