I love Pearl Jam and even though I have not been to too many shows, every show I've been to rocked out!! I just wanted everyone's thoughts on Mike's sound through different tour periods. IMO, Pearl Jam has never sounded more together and on as they did this tour, but I have noticed after listening to 2000 and 2003 boots, Mike's soloing is harder to hear this tour. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this. I mean he still rocks and everything, but it was a little hard to hear him at times this tour, where as in the past he was loud and whaling. Jeff seems a little lower this tour as well. I am not really complaining, I love the band, but I hope in the future the sound technicians turn Mike and Jeff back up a little, not to the point of over powering the vocals or drums or anything, just loud enough to grab your attention like on previous tours.

agreed the last show i attended east rutherford i have to admitt it was hard to hear his solo's maybe it was due to the fact that i was in the front row in front of stone anyway my friend said the same thing to me he was sitting 10th row on stones side i hope it will be better next time.......

No probs with the Adelaide shows... he was rockin just has hard as normal - if not more so!!

If anything... i thought Jeff was sounding a little distant... not enough to complain about - but you brought it up! :D

You are right! something was wrong with Mike's amp this tour, I've been to all shows, and only when Iwas really on his side up close I could hear him. I did have that moment in Bris 1 when we made eye contact and I signed him to make himself louder, very proud of that, 'cause he went back there and did somthing and then everyone could hear him properly! from the center and towards Stone...
So yes, take notice of this - when you can't hear the lead - just hale the Mikester...

P.S. just remembered Perth was an exception, I could hear him loud and clear there.
  • definitely had trouble hearing him at Adelaide1. i was 5th row centre
  • I agree with you, I went to brisbane 2 and found mikes lead work a little hard to hear. No complaints here though, the show was awesome and the band seemed more professional and polished than i have ever seen them before.
