Binge Watching tv shows-yah or nay?

Seems to be the way most people watch tv shows now. I can see the pros and cons of both sides. What do you all do? Do you binge watch tv shows, or do you do an episode a night or an episode a week and savor it?

Netflix gets it. That is why their orginal program is released as a season not week by week.

Do not binge watch a show you care about/like/are into. It gets way too rushed and things jumble together. You do not get the same effect.
I am watching Breaking Bad. Still early in Season 3. I only allow myself no more than 1 episode a week... sometimes go 2-3 weeks. It is a great experience. I get the whole effect of anticipation all week, and reflecting on every single event of the past episode. Cliffhangers are also much more intense if the hang only lasts 30 seconds... It wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable if I binge-watched. You definitely need to be disciplined, and avoid all spoilers. Pretty much when I am with a group of people and the subject of TV comes up I have to read off a disclaimer statement...
But it makes the show much better IMO and it lasts longer. Its like a year + experience
LAst show was New Girl.
And now im almost done with the Wire season 4.
Next up is game of thrones season 2 or boardwalk empire season 2.
I find I sometimes watch a couple episodes of the girly dramas I like, especially if the pvr is getting full and Mr. Guitar is complaining about all the shows that are recorded. But I can't spend much time sitting in front of the TV.

I cant argue with that.
Someone already mentioned the long break before the last season of Lost.. I had gotten into Lost really really late and binged the first 5 seasons in a couple weeks until I was caught up to live tv. I had a partner in this endeavour. It was great, I loved it, but then there was like a two or three week break between episodes and when the new one finally aired I saw there completely lost (lol get it) cuz I had forgotten so much about what was going on during that break.
I hear what people say about savoring it and letting the anticipation do its job ... I'm going completely bonkers waiting for the Doctor Who 50th and someone binging wouldn't get to experience this part, and I can appreciate the value of the experience. But for me, personally, since I spend a lot of time cramming new information into my skull I can't really keep track of plot lines for weeks at a time. For a couple days, yea.
I think it probably is a bit of a generational thing... instant gratification and all.

Myself and the fiance started homeland this past weekend... we got through 4 episodes of the first season (well really 3 and a 1/2, she fell asleep during the last 1/2 hour of the 4th episode and had to rewatch it this week already) and that's the most "binge" watching I've done in years...
I see the upside to both... would definitely prefer to binge watch.
For example Breaking Bad has been painful for me. Someone recommend the show to me and my college roommate after the first season... we promptly watched the first season in a single day, and I've been watching episode by episode ever since... it's been painful waiting to see how it's going to end...
I was ready to kill one of my buddies over it last year (not literally of course, but...). Anyway I hadn't managed to catch the finale of the first 1/2 of season 5, and him and his fiance called in sick to work 3 days straight and they had binge watched all the 2 seasons leading up to that point in the day leading up to it... then he spoiled the finale for me... I seriously thought about strangling him...
Breaking Bad is now, should last me a year and 1/2... Then I may do The Wire, re-do Oz... many options.

Another habit says its long overdue
Another habit like an unwanted friend
I'm so happy with my righteous self
together as they air;
that is our 1 TV ritual.
Generally, I'm a binge-watcher as well.
I'm working my way through 'Community' right now
+ trying to complete my 'Futurama' collection as well.
Also, the two weeks I spent watching the first 3 seasons
of 'West Wing' back-to-back-to-back
was an unparalleled TV viewing experience.
Cheers.
i LOVE binge-watching shows. soooo much more enjoyable.
did so with sex and the city, breaking bad, mad men, house of cards and orange is the new black. once i got caught up and had to watch episodes in real time, or even simply week to week on the DVR - so annoying. hahaha. i am starting to binge watch downtown abbey!
Let's just breathe...
I am myself like you somehow
I binged on the following shows that I originally missed:
Breaking Bad (not sure how I missed this as it may be one of the best shows ever)
Walking Dead (first season)
Dexter
i should do this as well since i can't do anyhting for a few more days. Never seen Breaking bad either.

I also did a Band of Brothers binge back in the day. Amazing series!
I've seen ONE episode of breaking bad and various random scenes and I don't feel the need to watch the whole show.
Is Downton Abbey on Netflix?!!?
