Poll: Majority Of Americans Approve Of Sending Congress To Syria

A majority of U.S. citizens believe congressional leaders in both the House and Senate must be sent to war-torn Syria immediately.

WASHINGTON—As President Obama continues to push for a plan of limited military intervention in Syria, a new poll of Americans has found that though the nation remains wary over the prospect of becoming involved in another Middle Eastern war, the vast majority of U.S. citizens strongly approve of sending Congress to Syria.

  • send them over to do what exactly?
  • Starting a thread using the Onion as a source and not mentioning it's satirical is SO wrong...

Seriously guys? I knew it was TheOnion as soon as I read the boldface title inside the post. Granted, the thread title is a bit misleading, but in a way that's classic Onion too.

@OP :lol: Thanks for the morning yucks. :D

A good way to start the day: The Onion and a cup of coffee. :)

I agree. News nowadays is just about as worthy as The Onion. Crap. I should post the article on political doublespeak on Syria by Bill Moyers. However, I find AMT lacking any intelligent conversation for about he past 6 years... and I can't imagine why.

Oddly enough, I think you can get closer to the core of current events through The Onion than most other so-called "news" sources.

I'm sorry you don't find much in the way of intelligent conversation here on AMT. Some of us really do make an effort to discuss things here in an intelligent manner. But then- I wasn't here six years ago so I don't know how it's changed. Maybe you can enlighten me and suggest how we make this forum more useful.

Yeah, NO intelligent conversation? Shame on the lot of us; we'll have to step it up then.

    Oy to the bloody vey.

(I like how the Onion makes fun of the sheer idiocy of many news outlets' reporting; entertaining satire for sure)

Posting to insult people is not ok...don't do it again. See the Posting Guidelines at the top of the page please. No one is making you visit the AMT. Thank you.

I could certainly be wrong but I feel that the threat of us doing something is what could push this in the direction of not actually having to do it...as long as the chemical weapons are turned over/confiscated. It's very complicated but I'll just limit my opinion to that aspect. If the Congress doesn't back the idea, then there is no threat except from the Executive.

    Delusional.

Democratic Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton said Tuesday that at the current time, the only reason she would vote in favor of an attack on Syria was out of loyalty to Barack Obama.

Appearing on radio's Bill Press Show, the non-voting delegate from the District of Columbia also said if the President actually gets the votes he needs, "it’ll be because of loyalty of Democrats. They just don’t want to see him shamed and humiliated on the national stage" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
