Hey guys -
This one seems like a no-brainer which is why I am putting it out there right away. I went to the web site and it looks like Tailgating is allowed which means we simply set up shop there.
With the new news that the Pearl jam will be playing a full set and the showtime will be bumped up an hour for it (official confirmation pending), I think us being there already makes the most sense.
I have just left a message with the parking manager at Aloha Stadium to find out what details he can provide me with (what area to park at, what time the gates open, parking fees, etc)....So I will update this as I get details.
The canned rules of tailgating are as follows:
- Parking stalls are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Reserving or saving stalls is PROHIBITED.
- Vehicles, tables, chairs, barbecue pits and tents must be confined to one stall. Groups may park continuous to one another and share a tent or equipment traversing their vehicles and their stall. However, there should be no empty stalls between these vehicles and tailgating parties should not expect to occupy empty stalls near their party.
- Grass area between parking stalls may be used for tailgating.
- Pegging of tents in parking lot is PROHIBITED and punishable by fines.
- Dumping hot coals in the parking lot or in trash receptacles is PROHIBITED. All tailgating material and refuse should be strictly disposed of in a safe manner.
- The parking lot is not a playground. Ball playing, Frisbee tossing, etc. is PROHIBITED. Playing of any flying objects is PROHIBITED for the safety of everyone and everything around.
- Bicycle riding, skateboarding, scooter, roller blading are PROHIBITED.
- All animals are NOT allowed on property.
- Live bands and broadcasting of loud music is PROHIBITED.
- There will be NO soliciting, hawking, selling or giving away of any articles in the parking lot without the approval of the stadium manager.
For this pre-party, I am asking for a lot of help. Basically, I am looking to have people bring food and beverages. Tunes would be good too! I am going to be renting a car (I think) so I'll have a vehicle to help other transport goods or themselves to the venue.
If we want to conduct a raffle for this as well, I'm game.
Let's round up and talk about who's participating and what you're going to bring! (I will get the details on the when and where specifics).
Cheers!

Now, where's my Pinot? I can almost smell the turkey...that I don't have to cook.
Wait a second, I just thought of something.
How about a simulcast of the party? :D:D
Perhaps i can even get him to confirm the earlier start time (and full PJ set).
I should know more about this on Monday for sure.

Destroying DC Scum.
Well, right you are my friend. I just got off the phone with a Parking Manager and he sort of put the kabosh on a lot of my plan. No banners, no "allowing" merchandise being sold. With regards to Tailgating, because they said they are short parking for this event, reserved stalls cannot exist. One car per stall.
He told me that they sold 14,000 floor seats for this event. I think that STILL blows my mind a little bit.
Anyways, We need to know how many cars we'll have on hand for this gig. I will have mine. Who else?

That so does not surprise me at all.
Believe me .... I think it's going to be a total complete cluster f**k
Oahu is not as bad as Maui though when it comes to being organized about these kinds of things but things in Hawaii are a little slower at reacting than the mainland. Be prepared!

I won't have a car but I will be willing to bring stuff. I can't commit right now as to what I will bring cause it will depend on what I am close to and able to pick up. But count 2 of us in!
I am really hoping the predicted Cluster F**k does not happen. Just want to have a good time with out a bunch of drama.
And of course, I just wanna be int he front. Please, oh please... just get me in the front!!!
I mean just getting in and out of the venue
I think if we all plan good to be there early it shouldn't be that bad.
