    ...they are now pro war.

    That was easy.

Is Ed Asner still alive? Has any these missing people been interviewed on their opinions on what maybe pursued in Syria?

BTW I was at that one of those anti war rallies in DC in 2009-2007 Had to keep moving it was cold.

The site says it fears the worst. I am assuming that means they have gone missing? If this is to be taken at face value... well... cuckoo.

If the intent is to question why these outspoken advocates for peace are quiet this particular time around... why do so? Why must the two sides of America continually cajole each other and work as hard as they do to maintain the growing divide that is beginning to polarize the country.

The last two presidents... and all the other presidents have basically been the same from what I can recall regardless of political affiliation. It's not Republicans' fault that Bush acted the way he did and it's not Democrats' fault that Obama is faltering. All citizens likely voted for the promise of their chosen candidate... not the policies that have emerged and proven to be damaging.

Try supporting each other when you are mislead by a leader... not pointing fingers and blaming each other. You'll never win with your elected president... but you can win with each other.

The first article on the front of Neil's NY Times on-line paper today is headed: "LINCVOLT PROVES YOU DON'T NEED THE TAR SANDS". If you believe, like I do, oil is a major cause of war today, this is at least indirectly an effort to curb war.

More concerning in my mind, however, is why are there no younger people on this list of activist entertainers? Some of us boomers have been speaking out against war and defending the environment for decades. Maybe we're a little tired, a little worn out. We started championing anti-war, pro environment causes 45 to 50 years ago. Come on, youth, where are your voices?

And one other thought- this new impending war is still in the making. I'm willing to bet some of the old farts will be heard from in due time.

A lot of us boomers have worked hard all our adult lives in being socially, politically and environmentally active... and still are, I might add. Being old is not a reason to stop caring, but it is a reason to not be able to work as hard as we once did. Shit, I'm only 62 and I feel the wear and tear- sometimes really hard. Like today. Listen:

    fzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

there goes a few more healthy cells unable to regenerate.

But seriously, young bloods, you have the energy and, hopefully, the idealism of youth. Where are your voices? How many miles of pavement have you pounded? Where are your spokespersons?

Putting the responsibility on old fuckers? Tell me about it when you reach 60 plus.

And one last little bit of rant here: Calling out Neil Young for not doing enough? The guy is 67 years old, he has had polio, epilepsy, a brain aneurism and brain bleed, chronic back problems that once put him in a brace and has done a huge amount of work for the environment, is currently working on projects to combat world poverty and hunger and has waged heavy peace and been very vocal about anti war for many, many years. And someone out there is implying he hasn't done enough? Well fuuuuuuuck that! :x

Edit: "the someone out there" is not aimed at you, ajedigecko, but rather whom ever wrote the article or came up with the idea in the first place. This is not a person attack on anyone here.

Ya know, brianlux, there's something worth remembering about your generation. You all rallied behind lyrics like:

    "We can change the world
    Rearrange the world
    It's dying"

    "Give peace a chance"

    an so forth.

But it can also be said your generation sold out. You got through the sixties and then settled into becoming yuppies and were more concerned with your mortgages and SUV's than the environment and peace.

So don't expect your aging spokesperson to make a change and don't look for new entertainment starts to change the world. Start with yourself.

The younger generation won't put their smart phones down - they are too busy living in the cyber world instead of the real world.

That's ironic, lcusick. The internet and following technology including smart phones, ipads, etc. allow greater access to news and events than ever before as well as, and more importantly, the ability to share information world-wide and yet most of the the time these devices are used for talking about nail polish, cars, love (or crush) interests, TV shows, etc. I know- it's what most of my extended family kids use them for. (But hey kids, you know I love you anyway!)

...brian...my comment was not directed at you.

Directed at the celebrities who profit off of emotions.

They have a platform that we do not have.

The simple fact is...their leader is for war now.
live and let live...unless it violates the pearligious doctrine.

If they have a voice -in old age - to be against war.

    The inverse must be true.

    I get that- that's cool. :)

Sadly, I don't think we have a leader. A book that was recommended to me that I would not have normally picked up and read is Lee Iacocca's Where Have All the Leaders Gone? I don't usually look to people in big business for understanding or inspiration, but this book stated the problems with lack of good leadership very well.
