Jared Leto - he is an actor posing as a rockstar anyway.

    Haha!

I think Mark Lanegan would be a good choice, I highly doubt he would do it though.

this. A few one offs with Paul for Sound city is cool, but.... I want a new Foo fighters record and tour. 8-) At the same time though, I just saw AIC after being on the fence, for the last few years, so I don't know...

I doubt Courtney or Frances would really allow a Nirvana reunion to happen anyway considering they both have had ownership to Nirvana's name sake and rights towards what happens musically.

  • Nirvana ended when Kurt died. Please don't tarnish their name by bringing someone else in. You can't take Kurt's place so don't try

Nirvana was Kurt Cobain. Any kind of Nirvana "reunion" would be an absolute joke, and an insult to Cobain. Please God let it never happen.
"...though my problems are meaningless....that don't make them go away...."
  • I think the headline is a little misleading. The interviewer asked him about it, Pat didn't come out unprovoked and say they should play Nirvana songs, he said he "wouldn't have a problem with it" and says that he understands Dave, Krist and the fans might feel differently. He also goes on to say that he's never even thought about who they would get to stand in for Kurt, so it's not like Pat is cooking up some plan. He was asked a question and he basically said he was open to it.
"See a broad to get dat booty yak 'em, leg 'er down, a smack 'em yak 'em!"
  • as I stated in comments section on alternativenation.net, the AIC and Nirvana situations are worlds apart. Layne had little to do with writing the songs in AIC. He wrote a few, but the lion's share was from Jerry, or at most, a collaboration.

Kurt wrote nearly every single song, so you can't have Nirvana without Kurt.

If Courtney wasn't such a twat, I'd say she could do it. Can Frances sing? Get her to do it.

In fairness most news sites do that, I'd never take a headline from a news site as being the whole story.

I don't know about a full-blown Nirvana reunion but I wouldn't mind seeing Dave, Krist and Pat play some Nirvana songs at a few shows.

Nirvana on record was Kurt, Krist and Dave. Kurt may have written the songs but it was the 3 of them that made the Nirvana sound and Pat was a part of fleshing that sound out live. I don't see why the surviving members should be prevented from playing the songs that made them who they are today just because Kurt is gone. Should Jeff and Stone stop playing "Crown of Thorns" because Ed isn't Andy Wood?

If anything, Pat is the only one of the 3 that can be objective about this. Dave and Krist are too emotionally involved whereas Pat is a musician that was involved in the band and admits that the 3 of them enjoy playing together. Like he says, “Why the f**k wouldn’t we play Nirvana songs?!... It was one of those crazy things. It was fun, it was amazing. It’s great to play with those guys again – always. We’ve done it enough times now that it kind of feels comfortable.”

the difference is Pearl Jam are a new band playing one song as a tribute. It would be comparable if Mother Love Bone were to tour as MLB and hire Ed to sing all of Andrew's songs.

Pat was an official member of that band all of 3 months. Yes, he was asked the question and he answered it. I'm not blaming him for that. But for someone to claim that the guy should have any part in the decision is kind of crazy.

Plus, Courtney would never let it happen. Not if Dave is in the band. She's so jealous of him she hates his guts and will never allow him to profit off the Nirvana name again.

Yep, and I'm sure there are other websites that post misleading headlines, but most reputable ones don't to the extent of grunge report. I've literally never read a bit of real news on that site.
