Chicago 2000 Poster - Blackie

I understand that the poster was pulled before the show because the band didn't like the print and the ones out there are very rare and sought after, but is there any story behind why the band didn't like the print?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

HA! Yes, I thought of that because I love his avatar photo. I also searched in old posts but I didn't see anything conclusive.

I want that poster! But I'm not going to spend two thousand dollars for it.
Do you know what it's like to fall in the mud and get kicked... in the head... with an iron boot? Of course you don't, no one does. It never happens. Sorry, Ted, that's a dumb question... skip that.

I was at the show, but at that time in my life my friend and i had enough money for 1 beer each or gas back to iowa. We chose the beer and ended up doing a gas run in Dixon. Take that Ronald Reagan.
Oh I was like 20 and driving a Lexus back then too (priorities were all fucked up)
I bet that was the only time someone in a Lexus did a 20 dollar gas run hahaha.

the point is.... i wouldn't have had any money for a poster

It's my understanding that were created and given the moniker "Missing Link" because they were created for shows in which PJ didn't sell a poster at. The 2 "Missing Link" posters are the Chicago '00 and the Pittsburgh '00.

I've heard several stories that Ames were the creators of the posters but that has never been confirmed. But in looking at my poster it does have a lot of Ames qualities to it from their other posters of that era.

I'm sure others know more than I do. There was something about the posters being put up for sale and the email list to sell them might have been the Ames email list. A lot of mystery surrounds these 2 posters.

Anyone else want to chime in that knows more about them than I do?

All I know, is it is a favorite mine for many reasons:

    1. I love the actual concept and artwork of it.
    2. I attended the concert with my little brother.
    3. It was an incredible concert with a lot of energy.
    4. I sat next to Eddie's family during the show.

It would be very interesting to see how many of these actually made it out to the public before the band pulled the plug on them. I personally know of two. I own one (my avatar) and my buddy, TK, owns one. I keep asking when he's going to sell it to me so I can give it to my little brother and he keeps dodging the topic.

ExpressoBeans shows there are 24 people that have them in their collection. But who knows how accurate that number really is.

I think there was a third missing link one-Atlanta maybe? Everything seemed just like Ames Bros at the time-similar email style, PO Box address, etc. I want to say it was $45 at the time, glad I scraped together the cash for a money order and got in before the "deadline."

Yes, you're right. There was also an Atlanta poster that was part of the "Missing Link" series. I stand corrected, sir ! ! !

I've never really thought about it...you're actually the first one that's ever asked.

But seriously, there's no way I could ever sell it. My collection would become incomplete and the odds of me finding another are pretty slim....unless my friend would finally agree to sell his to me.

I got 2 through the sale. One I kept, and one I gave to a friend that was going through a rough time. We both attended the show. I was bummed when I got the email saying that the poster were not for sale and that the band wanted them stopped. A couple days later I got the posters in the mail. I was extremely lucky to get these posters. :) So now there at least 26 people that have this poster.

My holy grail is the Atlanta Missing Link Poster. It was my first Pearl Jam concert.

I have never even heard of anyone who owns one.

If anyone has a lead on one of those please let me know.

My wife is pretty cool about the posters. It's hung in our bedroom. And looks awesome. There is a picture in the Framed Poster thread.
