James are fantastic - I would highly recommend this one as a 'best of' collection - Storming, from start to finish

Nice! They were one of the better bands at Woodstock 94 :)

Noticed it for the first time when I was watching American Reunion recently and had to shazam it. Catchy little number.

Yes they are. If you dig Laid, you owe it to yourself to explore further. Here's a start:

  • I only know two of their songs. Laid and Ring The Bells, the latter because it was used in an episode of the X-Files. It's a great song but every time I hear it I can't help but think of Giovanni Ribisi's creepy little redneck weirdo character with the psychic powers.
"See a broad to get dat booty yak 'em, leg 'er down, a smack 'em yak 'em!"
  • James is such a great singles band. That Beat of is a fantastic collection. I wish it was pressed on vinyl.

I used to listen to James all the time. They were on the bill at my first PJ show (supporting Uncle Neil at Finsbury Park in 93) and they're always good live. As people have already mentioned, their Best Of is a great album and it's well worth checking out the rest of their stuff.

I remember seeing them play Out To Get You in Newport in 1993. It was the first time I'd closed my eyes at a gig and just let the sound wash over me. It was so hypnotic:
