As a Canadian resident, I was outraged to learn yesterday that the Canadian Government would now charge $425 per international TOURING MEMBERS AND PER SHOWS ACROSS CANADA. I'm worried that a number of artists, especially the smaller ones, wouldn't be able to afford to perform across Canada.

There is already a petition to stop this. SIGN and SHARE if you oppose this. I don't know what it will result, but it's a start.

  • Hey!! But, you have National Health Care. Congrats!!!!
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.
  • This is really bullshit and I'm curious as to what their logic was. I mean, obviously it was to make money but how could they not foresee the impact this will have on small bands/artists who barely make a living as is. I hope this gets overturned. It's embarrassing really.
  • as angering as it is, it's not a surprise. Stephen Harper has proven over the years that he hates the arts and they should be given no money and taxed the fuck out of.

oh yeah, and your wife needs to be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen, according to his policies.

then all small & well known acts, bands & performing artists should halt all shows. see how big government enjoys those apples. all canadian would be performances simply go south to the states or north & play (alaska)

more music needs be in alaska. i think canada just frigged themselves. would this new little law apply on native lands? iron maiden could start doing shows on reservations instead of larger cities. would be way cool to see something like this happen

Sucks for bands playing small clubs, charging $15-20 and especially bands just trying to get out of the garage. Don't think it will have a big effect on large club/arena acts.
