This should be a short-lived thread.... I am considering getting one of these, but I'm just wondering if someone who has one and has used it can tell me how the finish holds up. I have and use the chrome one, and the black stuff started flaking off almost immediately after I got it. So I'm worried that the white coating (what is it? Enamel??) might also have a habit of peeling off around the edges or something. Can anyone tell me if there is a problem with the condition lasting with this zippo? Thank you very much!

I had a painted Zippo back in my smoking days in the late 70s through the 80s.
The edges wore out and dirt sticks to te painted surfaces. The best ones are either the chrome plated or anodized lighters.
Not sure about the quality of the lighters, today. Seems like the clicker latch spring is cheaper and will wear out, not allowing to close completely after a lot of use. Those old ones pretty solid.

Thanks Cosmo. :) My chrome EV one is holding up great mechanically, but I have had another Zippo in the past that didn't. I think it's just a matter of getting lucky with your particular lighter these days. :nono:

In case anyone else actually is interested in the answers here, someone in Lost Dogs says the white EV has held up great for him while in regular use during work in the construction industry. So that's good news.... :)

I use my White EV and Chrome one, Both have faired well considering i'm a clumsy person who constantly drops shit.
Idid put the white one away so it would not become too scratched and dented, got myself another chrome one to keep new. Love my zippos have all the EV ones, too scared to use the aussie one though :D
