Mystery Poster Tube!

Hey everyone. So I have done a few of these in the past over on Ebeans and it's a pretty damn cool idea.I am going to take 5 people (myself included) to participate. I will randomly generate the numbers each person gets using the online number generator to pick the order and I will be the first person to send out a print to the second on the list. The second person then gets my print and replaces it with their print and sends it to the third person and so on and so on.

Now here are the only requirements:

1. The poster must have an original price of $100 or more (including shipping).
2. Must be in mint condition
3. Must PACK LIKE A PRO!

I will receive a print from the 4th person so it ends with me. Now I will probably only do this with folks who I have dealt with before or have been on the boards consistently for a good amount of time just because there is always a chance a person might flake. Not too worried about that here with the 10clubbers though. This is meant to be fun and a way to expand your appetite and appreciate new and different artists. You might get something you absolutely love or you might get something that you don't really like... All part of the fun especially if you are the gambling type.

I figure we limit it to only 5 this time but if it goes smoothly then we can definitely expand again if people want. The reason I made it $100 original price is because it weeds out all the crap so people know they are getting a solid print. If anyone has any questions please just ask away... Half the fun is following the progress when people post what they get on the thread. Foils, variants, etc welcome :D

seems like a fun idea. seen this done over on EB with some high rollers. i only have one gigposter in my collection that originally costs over a $100. its easier with other art prints unless you are really into collecting variants.

Are you in the $500 one? I tried to get in but never dealt with the guy running it. And we could open this up to any print in general if people want. Just trying to mix it up a bit.

the 500 club is for big boys only....ha! and i'm an amateur collector. ive actually never participated in any mystery tubes on EB. but i always thought it would be fun to partake. if i spend anywhere from $150+ on a print, its hard to let them go especially in a mystery tube (although i bet there are gems worth much more in that mystery tube...the dudes over at EB have insane collections).

i do like the idea you are throwing out even if its just to mix things up. definitely intriguing...

Original price over $100? I have never seen a PJ show poster on sale for that high of an original price... :nono:

There have been a few, most recently the Seattle Maxx 242, Munk One and Soto print. I believe it was $100 with shipping if memory serves?

Some of the variants end up in that turf - original price for the Wrigley Ames variant was $125. But I'd say that right now the Wrigley Shuss, given it's appreciation, would definitely meet the threshold of a "$100 poster" right now.

Anyway, I'd totally do this but don't think I have the poster to part with. I'm either shafting someone else or myself with what I've got to offer! Have fun.

I guess I was trying to make a point on the wording/semantics. Original price and current value are two very different things.

Ha my bad.....I meant original price of $100 or over. And no any poster we will open it up for. 99% of Pearl Jam posters aren't meeting this requirement but if you have a poster that is a few years old and has had a consistent market value of $100 or more shoot me a PM and I will certainly let you know if it can make the cut.

And the $500 one isn't original price sorry to not clarify....for that one it needs to have a current 6 month average of $500+ and increasing. So it cuts out the newer prints that skyrocket at first and then come down to earth. It's a fantastic idea but I didn't make the cut with that.

So basically yeah, I'm open to doing any poster if people are interested in that instead of gigposters only. Let me hear some feedback. I am debating between a few right now on which one I am sending to whoever gets picked in the 2 spot...it sure won't be printed on normal paper though I can tell you that 8-)

I just don't think that this forum has that kind of collector, unless you're confining it to a mystery '98 exchange that removes the super expensive (or uncharacteristically cheap) outliers. You may need to 'lower the bar' a bit in order to attract some attention from this crowd. I mean, there's just no chance I put any of my high value stuff in this kind of random shuffle...but a print that's worth $75-100, only I have no attachment to? Now we're talking!

Alright so we are all set and ready to go. Here is everyone in and the order:

    1. 63schoefflin
    2. Chief Broom
    3. JK36392
    4. J.R.
    5. FrankBauer

So I will kick things off by sending something off to you in the next few days Colin. Once you get the tube, you grab your goodies and then send it off to the next person on the list. So FrankBauer will end it by sending something to me.

Everyone send me your address just in case someone is off the boards for a few days and we need to get a print shipped out.... It helps speed up the process. But everyone can get in touch with the person they will be sending to so they have it as well.

I hope everyone has some cool stuff in store for everyone!
