U2 and tour promoters The Next Adventure (TNA) today announced new show dates for those previously postponed on the U2//Vertigo Tour – including Hawaii on December 9th.

And U2 have announced that Pearl Jam have been added as special guests for the show in Honolulu – as well as the previously announced support act, U2 stage manager Rocco Reedy with his band Rocco and the Devils.

Pearl Jam - one of rock’s most influential and active artists - are currently touring North America, followed by dates in Europe and Australia prior to joining U2 in Hawaii.

“It’s going to be a great night in Hawaii,’ said Paul McGuinness, U2’s manager. ‘The band are really pleased Pearl Jam could join the bill – a great end to what has already been a very successful tour.”

I was definately going to Hawaii if it was a PJ only show. Not going for a split bill though. I have nothing agaist U2, as I had nothing against Petty, but I went to a PJ/Petty split bill show. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

You're all crazy. This is going to be an epic show. U2 is a million times better than old man Petty.

i wonder if this will be the only show pearl jam is doing in hawaii.
i hope they'll play there own show as main band there too.
  • Its also not a split show. Its a U2 show with Pearl Jam opening ala The Rolling Stones last summer.

I'd go if I could get a GA ticket, which I doubt is going to happen. Never seen u2. that would be sweet.

I saw U2 a couple of years back and I have to say I was a bit disappointed. I mean, they are a great live band and put on a good show, but it definitely did not live up to the hype.

PJ is worlds better live than U2.

If only PJ was headlining and U2 was opening, now that would be sweeeeet!

How can I get a ticket to this show? I would love to be there. What better reason to go to Hawaii? Although I'm not a big Oahu fan, but whatever.
I really screwed that up. I really Schruted it.

Oh my god , what a show !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Saw 3 Vertigo Tour Shows, 1 in with the indoors stage and 2 with the stadium stage, and the stadium stage is amazing !!!!! .

It´s true that maybe PJ is in a better moment right now, but is always sweet to see a band like U2.

Its almost immposible to get tickets ....... right ???

U2 give some tickets to the Ten Club .... PLEASEEE

Had a chance to see U2 few yrs back had to pass it up. I think this would be alot better then the PJ/petty tour. And its Hawaii why not go. hehe :)

Nothing to say about this gig except WOW.

PJ may put on half of their normal show but no way that U2 will. The Vertigo thing is a monster.

    Would love to be there!

Pearl Jam should be the opening act for U2, just as they should for the Rolling Stones. U2 and the Rolling Stones aren't bands that can open for other bands.

"...tickets for the previously scheduled April 8 U2 concert can use their tickets for this show. Any tickets that are returned will go on sale to the general public on August 5th... Sorry, there will be no Ten Club ticket privileges for this show."

That kinda sucks for anyone in Hawaii who was hoping for PJ to come and didn't have a U2 ticket already.

I find it really hard to believe that PJ would travel all the way to Haiwaii, take all their gear and crew, pay for all that, and then just do an opening slot. I would expect them to add at least a show or a few of their own, but who knows.

  • I used to work at music clubs in LA and contractually speaking, and although the bands may be friends, almost anytime you play a show, or open a show, you are not contractually allowed to play in that market until the said show has passed. The only thing I could see happening is a Fan Club show there the next day maybe or the night before. But I almost guarantee that PJ will not play that island of publicize another show on that island at all.

It happened a lot with Coachella. I worked at the Troubadour and we would get secret shows the night before or a few days before. But they could not be publicized AT ALL. If you were playing Coachella you could not play any other shows in LA during that time. That way if someone wanted to see you they bought a ticket to that show.

Now if it sells out, then maybe there's a stipulation in there for them to headline their own show. Maybe.... Hopefully.... But I really want to book a rom right now!!! Anyone else???

I work in a place where I have to write the date about a hundred times a day, so A.) I have to know what day it is, and B.) I have to learn how to write the month first, then the day. Pearl Jam bootlegs have me trained the American Way, now I have to learn the other way.
