2008 Boot Quality

I keep reading about the fair quality of the 2008 boots and was wondering if these are just the download versions or the CD version. I am not a MP3 fan so what I want to know is if the download FLAC is what people are complaining about or the CD boots. I personally want the CDs but I am not sure if they have shipped yet. Any help would be great. Thanks, Dan

I'm pretty sure they're all the same content-wise, which is unfortunate, because the mastering (and somethimes the mixing) sucks.

All anyone has (including myself) is Tampa and WPB.

They sound exactly the same as the downloads.

I haven't kept up with the topics on sound quality, but of the couple I've heard so far (MSG 1&2), they were recorded/mastered with too high of signal input, thus distortion. Very dissapointing...

That is too bad. I really like the sound of the 2000, 2003, and 2006 boots. I don't like the 2005 boots at all but I also don't like MP3s. Maybe the later shows will be better quality.

If you're a hard-core audiofile, you'll find lots of things to complain about. If you just want to hear solid recordings of the band's shows, the 2008 boots are fine, and much better than not having any soundboard recordings (a la the 2007 tour).

Yeah, it's funny. Since about 2000 on, there would be numerous threads on here about how the sound on these boots suck or that boots suck. They always sound fine to me.

Some people are just too damn picky, I imagine.

Indeed ... "Shitty" or "sucks" or even "bad" are just not good descriptors of soundboard quality recordings, regardless of the mix.

2006 wasn't soundboard. It was something else, but I don't remember, and I do know that those sound great (except for the annoying girl in the Athens show)

I like the 2006 boots as well ... There is some variability across the shows, in terms of how "fuzzy" the sound is, but the Europe 2006 boots sound awesome to me.
