Dog Needs Home - URGENT!

There's this girl, an animal shelter volunteer, who gave this dog to her boyfriend (my neighbor's son) to foster for a few days, as the shelter is being renovated. On Sunday, this dog is supposed to go to back to the shelter and my heart is breaking for her! My neighbor's son (a guy in his 20s) wants to keep the dog, but his father refuses. I am, therefore trying desperately to find her a loving home in the tri-state area or PA (the dog is in NJ). The dog's name is Mel and she's a spayed female. She looks like a pit-bull/lab mix, she may be about 5-6 years old. She is an awesome girl! She is mellow and friendly, she enjoys being petted and loves to cuddle. There is no aggression in her whatsoever. I can tell she misses her previous owners, who dumped her at the shelter with her puppies. Talk about unconditional love of a dog! Now, she's enjoying her time with humans again, but soon she'll be back in the shelter cage. She will be dumped again and her heart will break again! I don't know how much they feed her at the shelter, but she is very skinny. You can see her ribcage, she's clearly malnourished. I keep thinking about her all the time, I can't sleep at night. :( If you or someone you know can give her a loving, responsible home, please pm me.

    awwww, she seems like just an amazing dog. I would love to hear of Mel finding a great home. Very cool of you to do your part to try and help her out as well.

    She is amazing! She just loves people, even strangers. She's only been with my neighbor since yesterday and she's already grown so attached to him. I can't stand the thought of her going back to that shelter. I would adopt her myself, but I already have three dogs. I just can't get another one. :( There are a few people looking for home for her, so I will keep you guys posted. :)

    Unfortunately, as of today we still did not find anyone who would adopt this sweet girl. :( She only has two days left before she goes back to the shelter. Time is ticking... :(

    I baked some chicken and beef for Mel today and I brought it over to her. She really enjoyed it! I also gave my neighbor some dog vitamin supplements for her.

    I am kindly asking all of you (who don't live too far) to please ask around, maybe you'll find someone who'd be willing to adopt her. Please.

    She really is beautiful... and a gentle soul. Some people get discouraged because of that "pit bull" stigma, but she is very sweet and there is no aggressive bone in her. She looks like she's got some lab in her and she definitely has the friendly lab personality.

    :wave: Bump for Mel. I live very near to here but unfortunately have a child with a very significant allergy to dogs. I'll spread the word though!

    Mel still hasn't found anyone to love. :( I guess, tomorrow she's going back. :(

    I saw her again today. I fed her some chicken and beef and gave her a smoked lamb bone. She ate that bone right away! I introduced two of my dogs to her to check her reaction to other dogs, and she passed with an A+ !!! :D All she wanted to do is play with them.

    Really cool of you to post this. Dogs are great. I hope she finds a great home. And, I really don't think the whole pit bull stigma is really fair. I believe they can be great dogs and that people are to blame for the bad outlook. Any dog can be used the same way as a pit under the right circumstances, it's just a shame that any dog that remotely resembles one is classified as a bad dog.

    I would totally help you out if I didn't already have my hands full with my 2 rescue dogs. Best decision I ever made.

    Any dog I get from here on out will definitely be a rescue. Somebody please give this dog a home!
