this is just stupid crap......the NAACP is just fishing for shit to throw at the fan....time to grow up !!!

Godfather.

Calls by the Missouri chapter of the NAACP for a federal investigation into a rodeo clown who donned a President Obama mask at the state fair last week are misguided and hypocritical, a Texas Republican congressman told FoxNews.com on Thursday.

U.S. Rep. Steve Stockman, who has invited the clown who wore the mask to perform in Texas, said the request for probes into the incident by the Justice Department and Secret Service are “silly” and should be ignored.

“A rodeo clown is really a nominal thing and it hurt no one,” Stockman told FoxNews.com. “They didn’t speak out when George Bush was being portrayed as a murderer. To become relevant again, they need to become more of an honest broker and not have contrived anger

I think the people who are upset over a roedo clown wearing an Obama are partisan numbnuts... just like the partisan numbnuts who got their panties in a bunch over a Pearl Jam singer wearing a Bush mask. It's just a fucking mask, people.

'The performer, meanwhile, has been permanently banned from future state fair events and subsequent performers must undergo sensitivity training.'

    Sensitivity training for clowns...That's fresh.

    :fp: :D

“They didn’t speak out when George Bush was being portrayed as a murderer".....Bush was/is a murderer and a clown. Just like the person who replaced him, Obama.

    Let's move on,

Went to a rodeo at 10 years old.

I agree with this the cruelty is way over the top. I went to a show once and I've never been back since.

The NAACP is just fishing for shit? They should grow up?

It's bad enough that supposed adults are torturing a bull for their own amusement, but when they ask the crowd if they want to see "Obama run down by a bull" (source: http://www.usatoday.com/story/theoval/2 ... k/2642021/) do you seriously think this is just poking fun?

Video of the event: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_xqUemUknY ("We're gonna smoke Obama man!" "Soon as this bull comes out Obama, don't you move, he's gonna getcha getcha getcha getcha!")

It was condemned by both the Republican Lt. Governor and the Democratic Governor of Missouri.

What the clown did was terrible. Our society has gone down the toilet.

I also agree that rodeos are very cruel.

I also agree that the NAACP is often very ridiculous.

I also didn't really care for Eddie making fun of the president either.

What would have happened if the bull actually did run over the clown and killed him?
    Would the audience have cheered?

Do people remember booing and/or walking out of a Pearl Jam concert or burning their Dixie Chicks CDs?
I mean, why is it okay to complain about our president... but, it's also NOT okay to complain about our president? How does that work?
    ...
Personally... I don't care if a rodeo clown wears a mask of our president or is a singer in a band wears a mask of our president. Probably because, from my perspctive, i know it's only a mask.

there is a lot of obama jabbing going on lately, seems everybody is just disgusted with all politions maybe the government should take notice, I don't mean to hijack my own thread but I have to say obama has made a move I agree with,he's trying to lower corprate taxes and raise teriffs/taxes on business moving work or product out of the country in an effort to slow or maybe even stop much of the out-sourcing that is killing the American families way of life but the friggin republicans keep blocking his plan....assholes.

if my info is off ...I just heard bits and pieces on the news a while back so exxxcuuussee meeeeeee !

    Generally speaking, yep.
It's bad enough that supposed adults are torturing a bull for their own amusement
The NAACP doesn't care about the bull. How is this comment relevant?
but when they ask the crowd if they want to see "Obama run down by a bull" (source: http://www.usatoday.com/story/theoval/2 ... k/2642021/) do you seriously think this is just poking fun?
Frankly it's more racist to assume lower class white people in MO are by default racist than it is to encourage a bull to attack a white man pretending to be a black president. Inappropriate, sure, but not because of race.

Well, you know, the news might not be reporting the whole story... but you get a pass, at least this one time. ;)

And I might be guilty of being too sensitive sometimes, but I dunno... I can't help but notice that there's way more violent antagonism toward Obama than there was toward Bush... and most of it smacks of racism.

    I totally agree.

At the very least they should let the calves, bulls and horse take a shot at riding on the backs of cowboys.

Hmm, never said you were a racist, though I appreciate your accusing me, based on nothing at all. Among other issues with your statement, rarely are things so cut and dry.

That aside, it might be enlightening if you would explain how you came to the conclusion that race was the motivation of the (presumably white) crowd at the rodeo.

You said "Frankly it's more racist to assume lower class white people in MO are by default racist than it is to encourage a bull to attack a white man pretending to be a black president."

Well, there's plenty of reasons to believe that, and goading a bull to attack a caricature of Obama is only one of them. You seemed to be directing that statement at me... but I see now you were directing it at the NAACP... as if they have no reason to believe it either... If you're not racist, you're blind to it, which is still a light form of racism. Believing that the NAACP is behaving like children... that's also racism.

Look at what's going on in North Carolina and other states right now... blatant attempts to disenfranchise black voters by Republican leaders... I suppose the NAACP is making too much of that too??

Godfather wants to accuse the NAACP of "fishing for shit"... as if they aren't tackling serious problems that affect minority citizens... this Obama rodeo clown thing is just a more vivid example of what's still going on in America.

So your are saying that the clown wore the mask because hi's not happy with the way Obama is running the country ?
jesus greets me looks just like me ....
  • maybe the rodeo clown stunt was a political statement, maybe it wasn't. bottom line: people are taking it TOO seriously. people are allowed to make political statements if they want to. just because the guy making the statement was white and the guy he was making the statement against was black doesn't automatically make it a racist statement.

isn't this the exact thing the black community wants to get away from? always bringing colour into everything?

newsflash: a black president can still be a shitty president and get made fun of! it's no more inappropriate than Ed "impaling" GWB on a microphone stand. that didn't automatically mean Ed hates texas! or does it?

Whether it's racist or not, I don't know. Disrespectful of the president, definitely.

I agree with those who are saying rodeo is a cruel sport. OTOH I grew up going to the rodeo (there's a longtime family connection) and the annual rodeo is still a big occasion in my town. I still go once in a very great while, maybe every 10 years. I don't remember Bush being criticized but that just may be my memory lapse. I remember some very crude jokes about Clinton during the 90s, and no, they didn't refer to Monica Lewinsky. I wasn't a big fan of Clinton but I thought the humor crossed the line.

People who attend rodeos are by and large a fairly conservative group. When I attended in January of this year, the announcer started off by asking in ominous tones "Are you worried about our country today?" Then spent most of the evening bemoaning the the terrible state of our society. I'm fairly sure he could have made the same comments 5, 10, 15 or 20 years ago and it would have resonated with somebody. It annoyed me no end. The place was packed with kids and their parents who are there for what's supposed to be a fun time. We could all have done without the social commentary.

What I'm getting at is that the clown making fun of Obama was probably funny to some people but also embarrassing to others. I disliked Bush and I'm not terribly fond of Obama but no matter who the president may be, the office should command some respect from us.

I agree, during the Bush administration I was frustrated with our state of affairs with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. I still gave him the respect the office of Presidency demands, it's not an easy job.
