this is interesting.....kind of odd in my opinion but it falls right into legal or morral issue.

Godfather.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center has called for a global boycott of an Italian company that sells wines featuring images of Adolf Hitler and Nazi slogans on its labels.

“Enough is enough,” said the center's Marvin Hier and Abraham Cooper in a statement. “We first protested the marketing of ‘Führerwein’ by an Italian-based company in 1995. Now an expanded line of wines that demean, diminish and mock Hitler’s victims are promoted on a slick website.

I guess Hitler, and the like, were "celebrated" by some.

Nonetheless, it's this company's right to produce whatever the hell they want.

It's also the consumer's right to not buy it (I'm not sure I'm with this whole boycotting trend of late; to me, if you don't support a product or manufacturer for whatever reason, don't make the purchase. Same difference, in the end, without all the fanfare.)

I'd rather have a frontal lobotomy than a bottle of Hitler wine in front of me.

is it their right? I mean, wouldn't that go against hate mongering laws of some sort, if they exist there?

Admittedly, I did apply the rights we have here to over there. But yes, if it isn't their right, it should be. I mean, many things could be considered X-mongering (sexist dolls, protest signs, racist cartoons, hell I know people who find those Che Guevara tshirts hateful). It's up to those who disagree or find these things in poor taste to not acquire them. The message would be pretty clear, I think.

(one of my worries is that while yes, this is pretty blatant, who's going to determine the fuzzier situations? I'll make my own choices rather than have something pulled from the shelves on my "behalf")

I agree, me my self...couldn't by anything hitler just because of the evil he had done but that does not mean they don't have every right to produce hitler wine...for cry-yei they're even releaseing a bottle with Jimmy Carter on it

    Godfather.
  • I wonder if it tastes better if it is decanted in the Hitler teapot?

From people who will drag around their anger for probably the next 500 or more years, it is a fucking bottle of wine with a picture on it. Glad it is not the star of david on the bottle, some other race like the palestinians may not want it to be on a shelf.

I agree, but I think Hitler and how they adopted the swastika is one of the worst figures of personified evil. I personally think that free speech has a limit. I know, I know, that's hypocritical. and it's a slippery slope. I just think in this particular situation, it's pretty clear what should be done.

I doubt the Iraqis would allow any bottle of wine with GWB's mug on it.
