Portland Question

Is anybody familiar with the Hayden Island area of Portland? Is it safe? Any neighborhoods in Portland to avoid?

We are coming in for a weekend (not the PJ show) and looking mostly for hiking/brewery kind of stuff. Any recommendations on best place to stay/ways to get around/places to visit/bar for NFL Sunday?

Thanks.

Not familiar with Hayden Island, but we've only been here a year. There are some awesome hiking trails all around the city, but my favorite has to the the arboretum/rose garden area. Hike up to pittock mansion for awesome views of the city & the Cascades.

As for places to stay, I've heard good things about the Ace hotel. You should also looking into staying at a McMeniman's. each location has a different vibe to it & they all brew their own beer. They're all over the city---Kennedy school is one of my favorites.

Big Al's is a decent spot to watch a game, as is Blitz. You'll find the games on at most breweries/tap rooms. I like going to Alameda Brew House on Fremont. If there's anything I can do to help, just let me know!

    Thanks Matt!

We are actually looking for apartments rather than hotels, so if you could recommend neighborhoods that would be great. How is Nob Hill?

Good to hear that most bars/breweries will have games on. We'll specifically be looking for the Bears game.

Nob Hill is good. The whole area of NW Portland is very walkable and safe.
